Rumor #64: Diplomacy in Ilien

A great fleet of foreign galleys have been seen in Ilien, carrying dignitaries from the far south to participate in Ilien's court session.

It would appear that reports of 'the Red Wind' might have been exaggerated.

The ships are from southern realm called 'Eustan' or some such, and carried an envoy from the Satrap of that place to speak about matters of trade.

Countess Geraldine el-Mesir has declared that Ilien will no longer be ruled by Diemed.

She claims that Archduke Diem has failed in his duties as a liege, and that she therefore cannot remain his vassal. The IHH supports the Countess claim.

Shortly thereafter massive riots break out in Ilien, forcing the Countess to close the gates and institute marital law.

IHH's Bishop in Ilien, Arvon Dravur, confirm having performed an investiture ceremony to reallign the divene bonds to the land in Ilien. The breaking of the Vasalage was not a decision made by him but a fact presented to him by the Countess. What IHH did decide was to try and prevent further chaos by performing the investiture ceremony.

What he did was trying to prevent further chaos in Ilien by performing the investiture ceremony. Regarding the political issues IHH will take no part in the discussion but leaves the matter to the Archduke and the Countess alone.

Should the Archduke of Diemed and the Countess of Ilien agree to make a new Vasalage treaty between them IHH will gladly perform another investiture ceremony.
