That largely allows him to crush each wave in succession - he can make the most of his own military units, minimizing his need for the Realm magic by using it to support his army instead of replacing it.  It also takes a lot of time, which eventually leads to the season ending and his RP refreshing itself.

Both views are valid...

Just note that few casters actually have the RP generation needed to power multiple (potent) spells over multiple turns. And even if they do they rarely have the GBs to prepare all those spells.

But the Manslayer might.

Because of the survival rate? Or was that a request for extension? :P

I know, I know, character powers are not as relevant as the story and domain actions is where its at and all that...  :)

BUT, in the adventure referenced here, having some nice boots of speed, a cloak of shadows, a scroll of invisibility (coupled with an actual desire to get out of dodge) could have made a real difference.

I remain with the question, can we assume level appropriate magic items for our characters? - Or must they be sought out by domain level actions?

As stated in the FAQ; if you want to you can give your characters appropriate gear.

And you think that I cannot come up with equally troublesome opponents and counters to your clever use of magic items? That is a null-sum game you're playing at - one that only detracts from the story and just adds a lot of colorless fluff.

IMO at least.
