Anybody have any suggestions for good sources for avatar pictures. The standard forum pictures are somewhat lacking in selection...

I'm a good source of avatar pictures  ;D (write me a mail with some specs and I'll send you a couple of suggestions).

Otherwise I'd say the following:

Thematical search on google pictures (certain descriptors, historical names, physical features etc.)

The British national portrait gallery: http://www.npg.org.uk/live/index.asp

Google "portrait gallery"

Movie pics (IMDB search for any medieval movie and then googlepic the actors)

D&D homepages - both computer games & tabletop rpg (tons of stuff in there) Best site I know:

Well, I've tried looking for old women for br wiki and struggled - lots of women <from warm countries> but very few old women - even searching for nuns gives you lots of young women (and some deeply disturbing images but that's the web for you).

Ok, I've given up on finding a good avatar, and settled on something passable. It covers the bald, grim and grey beard. Please ignore the braided mustache. That's just starting to make it look like me.

no it is just a picture of the net with no copyright notice on it. I am not as big boned as him but the hair color and the complection is about right ^_^
