Arrival
« on: March 04, 2009, 08:00:11 AM »

IC:

Early in the month of Haelynir, a diplomatic delegation from Ansien, representing the Points East Trading Guild, arrives, upon an afternoon, in the Imperial City.  The Guildmaster, a comely woman with dark, lustrous hair, is accompanied by a modest suite, all of whom wear stately garb of a thistle hue, with embroidery of the colour, regimental . . . or Mairadan indigo, as it is known in some quarters.

The Governor of Mieres arrives, but without Baron Zenneth in his entourage despite the earlier announcement that they would be traveling together.

A few days later, the Coeranian delegation arrives at the Imperial City.

Though modestly dressed in the native garb of the equestrian riders of Coeranys, Baron William Deaulen and his retinue attract the attention of those they pass by, as they trot into the city atop their powerfully muscled white chargers bearing the banners of their realm.  Noteworthy to the citizenry are the several Falcons that are apparently accompanying the noble travelers from the eastern marches...

The young Baron is  clearly in his physical prime: lean, but well muscled, Deaulen has long dark hair that when held back by his golden diadem, emphasize his elven features, marking him as a distinctly handsome man.  As he rides thru the Imperial City for the first time as the leader of the free and independent Barony of Coeranys, Deaulen shows clearly he is a man of the people, taking time to stop and converse with several citizens, and purchase goods offered by some of the merchants encountered as the delegation rides thru the Imperial City.

Sarae Somellin arrives today with a small delegation.

as she rides through the Imperial City the few Eloéle's followers in Anuire gathers to watch "Saint Sarae" (as they call her) returned from death.

The high priestess however keeps concealed her face with a black scarf...

Patriarch Daouta arrives in a closed carriage, surrounded by an entourage spanning from armed guards to what appears to be entertainers and courtesans.

Most of the guards clearly display holy symbols of Avanalae, and the wagon is marked with the crest of Elinie, as well as the sun symbol.

The doors to the halls open and a young man in his mid-twenties enters. He is tall, lean, his face hard, his eyes dark blue moving restlessly, scanning the room. His stance is clearly one of a veteran soldier. His clothes bear a sword in a light gray background as a crest, effectively revealing his allegiance. He is a man of the Mhor. Without wasting any time waiting for others to announce him, he steps forward and announces himself in a steady voice:

"The Duchy of Mhoried salutes you. May wisdom shine upon you, and wise decisions be taken in these ancient Halls. I am known as the Mhor."

He picks a seat and waits for others to arrive.
Droene Kavarra.

A line of horsemen arrive escorting carriages bearing the sigil of Osoerde's South Hold.  From the flags attached, it appears that all three of South Hold's ranking nobles have attended - though the Lady Vanadaere, it quickly can be seen, has chosen NOT to ride in her carriage.  Her horse leads the column, her face relaxed with the joy of riding.

The arrival of Lord and Lady Alam is orchestrated to be more on the discreet side, with the carriages and the bulk of servants, clerks and houseguards having refreshed and secured the estates of House Alam. Two days before the beginning of the Sword and Crown, a thirty-strong column of knights and squires disembark from a royal barge, which quietly sailed down the Maesil from the county of Maesford. The heavily armoured escort rides in tight formation, surrounding the liege of Alamie and his wife. The ducal couple seems to enjoy the ride throughout the City.

It is a larger entourage, that marks the arrival of Baron Kaven Enlien of Medoere. Several prominent advisers, clerical and mundane, can be seen at his side. Patriarch Baerealan, a man who has fought besides all manner of regents in the fight against evil and said to be the most knowledgable person on the subject that the RCS has, and a close personal friend of the Baron, as one of them.

The fair-skinned Baron leads from the front, his face set in a solemn mood as he directs his following through the city and towards their lodgings for the duration of another (in)famous Sword and Crown meeting.

The Duke of Ghieste's arrival is not loud, or brash, or rude in any of the ways that might have been expected from one so impertinent an individual. He processes on horseback, dressed in deepest black with a suit of highly polished half plate set against it. Red trim and details stand in marked contrast. The white Lion's head is emblazoned on shield and breast. Around him move ten identically dressed men, all hard and brutal in expression where he holds a gentle smile on his lips for all the crowds they pass through. The only other difference is that Ghorien wears a simple silver circlet on his brow.

Even the horses would appear to have been selected for matching look as well as strength and they carry the Duke and his men presently to the town house he has arranged for the duration of the Sword and Crown, bedecked in his colours already by his entourage that has steadily arrived in the city during the previous week.
His Grace Ghorien Hiriele,
Duke of Ghieste,
Grand-Maester of the Highland/Overland Traders,
Viscount of Whyrthe.

From the northern provinces of Dhoesone arrives a huge Rjuven looking fellow. He is the brother of Helaene Dosiere, a relative of the Dosiere line of chamberlains. His name is Airon Dosiere, ambassador to Fhiele Dhoesone.
He is of mixed Rjuven stock, but clearly of a noble upbringing, having lived a good deal of his life in Anuire City.

He will conduct all negotiations on behalf of the Duchess.

Suddenly, one day around noon, right before the great joust:

Words spreads like wildfire in the City; the great galleon Pride of Avanil has anchored of the Imperial Cairn. The ship was presumed lost last winter, but now it sits in the river - flying the personal banner of Brandon Boer, self-proclaimed King and lord of the West.

Anuirean nobles - they do know how to make dramatic entrances...
