"Lads those of you without serious wounds secure our perimeter. The rest please report to Archbishop Bellamie for healing”

Noting Kaven’s limp Wallac Isilviere turn his attention to him

“My good Kaven you seem to have suffered a grievous wound if not deadly. Do you want me to take a look at it?”

"It can wait, Your Excellency, though I appreciate your concern. My balance will be a off, but nothing I shouldn't be able to compensate for. At the moment I am more concerned with finding out why these men are here."

"Good Kaven you are a stout fellow. The wound shall wait for now but mind you, do not ignore it for such is the realm of Shadow that wounds is not always what they seems to be at first glance.”

Turning his attention to Rogal Destar and the prisoners the High Prefect continues.

“Do they speak and in a known language?  Besides Kaven questions I want to know what attacked them and why?”

Then tries to retrieve Baron Kaven's cut of toes.

None of the captives admit to speaking any tongue known to you - possibly they are pretending not to. Hard to tell.

There is no sign of the last sorcerer, nor any ship (but you can't see that well in the dark, so that doesn't mean anything). If there IS a ship in the vicinity, it must have seen the magical fire though, and might decide to have a look. A potentially dangerous situation.

What magic remains is used to heal the wounded, including Kaven's foot (which was bleeding quite a bit). What to do, what to do?

Turning to the Patriarch, Isilviere ask

"Your Holiness, do you perceive any change in the Shadow - have we succeeded in removing what got our attention in the first place?"

“I will try to investigate it as well and your help and great experience would be welcome”

Then he stretches out his mind and probes the surroundings with his mind

"Right, these men will go with us. We can question them in our world, when we get back. Let us move away from the beach, lest we have to fight a second wave." He turns to some of the men. "Let's sink the remaining boats, no need to make it any easier for whoever leads here."

He asks the regents a bit away from the prisoners, and confer with them

"Without magic, we can do very little in this realm, so perhaps we had better head back and at least be secure in our knowledge that these prisoners might yet unravel what ever sinister plot is afoot here. The strenghtening of the veil should make it harder for these men to finish what they set out to do. And at least we know their most likely entrance point. We should be wary of the last trickster as well. He might yet try and rescue these men."

"With this knowledge, the Countess can place the local guard on alert - that should limit the danger until further efforts can be made.  In the meantime, we shall have to be most cautious - with your powers weakened in this fighting, the wraiths will be a far more lethal threat should they seek battle upon our return."

"Which may be reason to delay our return and wait for dawn"

What is it to be? Do you seek to return to the Daylight World or do you intend to stay here in the Shadow World? Night is upon you, so if you're going to cross over, this is the best time to do so. It will help the Patriarch find a place where he can lead you across the Veil safely. If you stay past dawn you most likely will have to wait for the night night.

"I'd rather not spend too much time here. Especially since we know that there are one more of those sorcerers still unaccounted for, and we have prisoners now, who might hold valuable information."
Kaven turns to a priest of the RCS.
"Go to the prisoners and offer them water, to slake their thirst, while Lord Tristan and I destroy the boats. Then we are off. Your Excellency, I would ask that you assign some of your men to guard the prisoners. Especially the two tricksters and be wary of your surroundings, as Patriarch Baerelan seek for a place for us to cross."

You have no live sorcerer captives - both were killed. The boats are quickly smashed and then you make ready to return to the sewers, hopefully finding the same weak spot that allowed the Patriarch to cross.

ooc: darn.. wouldn't have minded one of those fellows alive for questioning. Should we get the opportunity (he ambushes us, we stumble upon him with his foot caught in a beartrap etc.) he'll be ordered subdued rather than killed.

Fortunately there are no more wraith attacks - you pass through the Veil, make your way to the surface in time to greet the morning sun.

Offering a prayer to Ruornil for safe passage through the night, Kaven turns to the group of men.
"Let us gather up, so we do not resemble wounded and bedraggled survivors, but rather victorious retainers of Good, and escort these prisoners through the city."

He looks towards Wallac.
"Your Excellency, the Cathedral would be the safest place for these men, I believe. But I would insist that you do not question these men without one of the RCS present. And that you allow no others to enter... Lord Bellamie and Her Grace, the Swordmage, beeing the only exception. What I have seen here today has not persuaded me against the notion of a powerful mind behind these attacks, but rather the opposite."

"What I would find most interesting to learn is what these men were intended to accomplish.  A hundred or more warriors, accompanied by dark magi, is no small force, yet insufficient to seize the city outright.  Perhaps they were intended as assassins, or to take control of some other place or item within the city.  And indeed, we cannot be certain they held any connection to the wraiths - it may be that the gods guided us aside from our quest to discover these men, as a greater threat to their children than the plague of undead."

[OOC: Did the Patriarch ever gave a reply regarding having weakened the Shadow?]

OOC: If possible to backtrack]
The High Prefect give instructions to bring our dead comrades with us from the Shadow Realm and examine the bodies of the two dead sorcerers for clues.
