Anathema: Recruitment
« on: September 29, 2013, 07:36:49 PM »

Would it be realistic for total newbies to W40K universe to attempt playing? No offence taken if yes is the answer :)

It would be very realistic.

The game is supposed to be super-easy to play.

And if you feel you're lacking in background lore: Just imagine a character that's essentially clueless when it comes to the greater galaxy. Most of the inhabitants of the 40k universe are ignoramuses, blissfully oblivious to anything beyond their immediate sphere.

Great :). Ignoramuses are easy to impersonate when the player is likewise  ;D

Anathema: Recruitment
« Reply #3 on: September 30, 2013, 06:33:39 PM »
Anathema is a game for a fistful of players. 3 is the absolute minimum, around 5 is probably ideal. Actually Anathema can easily support 10 or more players, but then GM workload will skyrocket - and we don't want that.

Potential players can show their interest here. It's not a first come type of thing; as usual I pick the players I think would make a fun game for all. Being early is part of that because it shows eagerness, but it's not the whole equation.

Start date is a little vague ATM, but it will come in the foreseeable future. Anywhere from a few days to a month or so.

Kind of kitchen and egg, between this and ROE III (however hypothetical).
Bjorn, what would be the average time / interaction level per week required not to be a drag on everyone's else fun? That is the only question my chaotic innerself needs to get answered to before devouring the universe, or not.

I've not intention of allowing it to become overly time-consuming, but these things are always difficult to aestimate...the overall plan is to post something on a daily basis, keep the story flowing forward.

Players will have to reply within the same time frame (once per day or so) if they want to have any influence on how the story proceeds; if not they will simply be carried forward, at the mercy of the whims of the Dark Gods (and their fellow players). So you should probably check in every day, but the amount of work required shouldn't be very large. Knowing role-players I'm sure that many will want to do more than the minimum; they wil undoubtedly add stuff about their Champion and warbands, discuss stuff with one another and so on. How much of that you want to get into is up to you.

Ok, fair enough, guess I will get tempted - just looked up last night some interesting stories about the Relictors. Will see how to weave something out of that :)

I'm declaring my interest in the game. Whether you'd want me as a player, and whether I have the time to commit to it remains to be seen, but I'll pay attention to how this develops. Who knows, maybe it's time to bring back Suris Enlien as a tech-priest?  8)

Or Marlae Roesone as... umm... I'll let Alan fill out the blanks  :P

Thus far I've gotten little response from the 40k PbP crowd. I'll try some more promotion, but it may be that Anathema is too different to evoke much interest. In which case it's back to the drawing board.

So you're interested in playing a Marine. We really need a marine or two, so that's very good. The Relictors Chapter has an interesting background in that they have recently been declared heretics, but have been playing around with fire for a long while.

Another tech-priest is fine, as long as it's not exactly the same type of tech-priest.

No worries Bjørn, the tech-priest part was a joke. Suris should stay dead(ish), imagine what being reborn into the 40k universe would do to her sanity. I could probably come up with some kind of psychics-character.

I've also been searching for some experienced 40k players here:

http://www.darkreign.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=6664

We now have 2+2=4, so that's enough to start playing.
