Turn 70: In Lyssan (War Council)
« on: June 14, 2011, 02:41:53 AM »
To call Lyssan ‘homely’ would be to offend all others to who homely is truly deserving of.  No, Lyssan would be better described as a village, and to the vulgar…a shit-hole.  William marvels at the energy spent attempting to acquire it for, despite centuries of habitation, it will be many more years before the lands are tamed; were it not a viable land route, it would be easy to ignore…small wonders.

William makes his way to his command tent, having called all the assembled lords, it is time that find out what their roles in this crusade shall be.

William lightly taps the table.

"Marquis, my vanguard already moves secure the route to Kiedel. Once in Kiedel, we shall meet with the King and the Pontiff of All-Anuire, before moving on to Maren's Pass in Friedlund, already preparations are made for our arrival."

He says, pushing pieces about the map in front of them.

"From Maren's Pass, Oden is but a short distance.  Hence, the news that you will bring me shall be pivotal in further ascertaining what the Swordhawk shall bring to support the Prince."

William drinks from his goblet while listening.

"His Excellency, is correct."  He nods in the direction of Ser Haeven.

"Horses will be hard pressed in northern Rohrmarch. My understanding is the terrain is rough and rugged.  Oden rests along the shores of the Khurinlach. While it may have been some time since armies have used the old roads to march from Keidel to Oden, I doubt the land has yet to fully reclaim them," he says.

"Given this, it will behoove use to use scouts and skirmishers for any reconnaisance in northern Rohrmarch," he says.

"Let us send word to the King, I would see additional skirmishers in the employ of this Crusade."

"Your concerns are unwarranted, through understandable," William says to Marquis Vineshriver.

"Strategically, the Chimaeron is neccessary to ensure the way to Coeranys and Osoerde always remains open.  If the seas are closed, then there is a viable land route," he says.

"Of course, his excellency, Baron Deaulen and I would see Lyssan reinforced -- with proper Anuirean soldiers -- as well as the Port of Mhowe. Besides, if the Swordhawk proves to be daring, then perhaps he will cross the Khurinlach."

While the preparations for investiture and vassalage continues there is ample time for council.

In the meantime the greater part of the army marches south along the coast, turning east and then heading into Rohrmarch to await the arrival of their lords and commanders.

After an all night meeting with Baron William Deaulen, Ervan Vaul Rockhammer - a Giant of a man, and the Marquis of the March of Caudraight - leads the Coeranian forces out of the Chimaeron towards Rohrmarch.  It is not the first time Lord Rockhammer has led Coeranian troops into foreign lands for the good of the realm.  Hopefully, the Marquis and his troops will fare better than the last time...

With matters now completed, and the Chimaeron now affirmed at the newest member of the Anuirean hegemony, the two Williams move onward to Rohrmarch, to rendevous with their forces there and begin the march upon Oden.
