The Princess' Tourney
« on: June 21, 2011, 01:37:25 PM »
Word is sent out, that Princess Aubrae Avan (and the Chamberlain) is inviting everyone of import to a gathering in the Imperial City - a feast and a tourney in honour of the people leaving for the Crusade.

It is the Princess' hope, that this event might help unite the realms and bring together everyone, in the neutrality and sanctity provided by the Imperial City - all in the spirit of Anuirean unity in the face of the upcoming holy war.

The gathering will be a two-story event. One a debate about the upcoming travails and what else might be on peoples minds, and another a tourney to test the mettle of those about to depart and crown an Anuirean champion to be a shining example in faraway lands. All this will take place of a week, with plenty of food and drink for all, and will be held at and arround locations generously provided by the Chamberlains office.

As it is the Princess' understanding that the Conclave of Temples will be convening this same season in the city, this invitation especially extends out to any and all members of the CoT and their armed forces. It is the hope of House Avan that they will partake in this feast in their honour.

It is furthermore the hopes of the Princess, that the Pontiffs office will bless the event with its presence in order to receive her gift to the Crusade, and at the same time oversee the crowning of an Anuirean champion, once the knights have proven themselves in the tilts.

Aubrae Avan,
Princess of Avanil, Duchess of Taeghas

The Chamberlain makes it pretty clear (at least for a normally quite vague man) that the honor of arranging this affair is entirely Aubrae's. He's only allowing it to be hosted in the City. Since such a thing would never had happened under Darien it can be seen as a move by the Chamberlain to offer Aburae some support. While also saying that he doesn't think here a real contender for the throne.

Messages are passed to the Princess indicating that Patriarch Coumain and Cardinal Delvaine along with some other senior priests from the Celestial Jewel will be attending inasmuch as the demands of the Grand Conclave of the Temples of All Anuire allow.

Letters are sent that say that Duke Ghorien Hiriele, his grace the Duke of Gheiste, Grand-Maester of the Highland/Overland Traders and Viscount of Whyrthe has made it clear that he will be pleased to attend the tourney and feast in person and shall attend accompanied by a sizeable entourage.

Whispers say he intends to do some serious politics and that is never pretty.

The Archduke of Osoerde regretfully informs Her Majesty that he will not attend.  He turns his eye east to the Crusade and the destruction of the Swordhawk.
