Western Isles
« on: March 04, 2009, 12:12:18 PM »
This is very tangential to the game area, but I was looking at various regions of vegetation in my atlas (thanks Bjørn), and started trying to imagine the climate and vegetation on the Western Isles. So what does it look like there?

The biggest island is quite large, and is located at a moderate latitude. I'm imaging Iceland being too harsh a comparison. Is it a fairly forested snowy place, comparable to Norway, Labrador or Kamchatska? Or is it milder and more fertile, a bit like the emerald isle of Ireland?

Just trying to prepare for what I need to pack for the holiday  ;D

The entire area benefits from a warm-water current (much like the Gulf Stream) sort of like Ireland does; so its fairly mild there, and quite rainy. Winters are more severe though, with snowfall being common, and lengthy cold spells.
