Hi,

I've been notified of another PbeM that is seeking serious and skilled players (that would be all of you then).

Thanks for posting that, Bjorn!  ;D

I'd like to say that anyone reading the above and is interested (after reading my houserules, which are publicly accessable) should PM me (as I'm the DM of that game) first on this board, rather than just registering there.

I'll also add that I'm not interested in people who aren't going to post much ICly.

So they rolled a 3 on the d4-1.  Not bad.

And in the Shadows forum there's already an announcement for 2d6 new PBEMS, all of which will undoubtedly suffer from 1d4-1...

They never learn :)

It actually lasted 5 full turns, although the deadline for the 6th was due.

What happened that caused the game to end?

Do you have anything to share from the campaign - anything particularily interresting or new happened?

well, with presumed permission I will post a quote from the main DM:

Quote
The Bad News
I think the game has run out of steam… but at least it managed to break "the curse" of D4-1 turns.

This, I think, was due to having a core of solid players for a time. Other semi-regulars helped a little, but there has been far too great turnover of other players.

A game needs players who handle the game side of things well, but more importantly, there needs to be a lot of regular IC posting from the majority of players. Chris L’s game was great for this (not counting the endless elf-bashing). I would have loved to have seen how the new players would have worked out.

There have been some great moments in this game, but I think that with the lack of IC posting and inter-regent posting, the game has run out of steam. I hope that people have enjoyed the game, and/or found ideas useful for their own games.

I think the best thing has been the truly international flavour of the players.

I’m really glad that I asked players to submit multiple domain/realm choices with detailed goals, as it provided a focus for players and also provides useful ideas for NPC realms.

Lessons learned:
* A Birthright PBEM game really needs a DM team to have true longevity, or at least to ease the strain.
* It also needs a decent-sized core of solid players right from the start.

I didnt get to play in the games so I dont know much more.

I'd prefer to discuss your questions privately, Bjorn. So please send me a PM here, or register at my site and I can set up a private forum for you.
After all, if there's an idea you want to use I'm sure you wouldn't want it posted publicly!  :)

Some good news...

I've got the seeds of an idea for a new game, Shadows of Empire II. I will not be starting it, if I do, for a while yet (say 1-2 years away), firstly because I'm kind of burned out at the moment, and secondly, because I'll want to have assistance with DMing (!), and thirdly, because I want other people to have the chance to run their games first.

Here's the premise: It will be very dark, or at least start off that way, and will start 20 years after the time this game was due to end (this game was due to end in MR 563.5, so that game would start in MR 583 or 584). It will be about the rebuilding of Anuire following the devastation of twenty years before.
In this situation, there would not be an emperor/empress to begin with, but there would be one shortly within the game's start, I imagine. Why wouldn't have Caliedhe have named someone(s) in the Great Uprising- who knows; maybe he was dead, and without his knowledge nobody knew where the Imperial Regalia was.

I'll let people know when I'm about to start the new game, if I do.
