The Night of Fire

The Summer Solstice marks the first day of summer in Anuire - now follows (comparatively) lazy days for the peasants as they wait for their crops to grow. It is a time of gaiety and - for the upper classes - diplomacy.

The day is oft called the Night of Fire - every year there is spectacular display of shooting stars that is visible if the weather is fair. Some years there is more activity than other years, but there is always some activity (truth be told there is often some shooting stars on the nights before and after the night of fire, but not as much).

The day is also known as Haelyn's festival, for all temples of Haelyn conduct a lengthy ceremony - starting at dawn and ending around midnight. The ceremony marks Haelyn's ascendancy over the other gods and his patronage of the Anuirean people.

As usual the Imperial city is filled with visitors - including numerous courtiers, envoys, and diplomats. There might even be someone from your domain there...

As part of the Festival all the temples of the City of Anuire partake in the religious observances; bringing the blessings of the many gods of Anuire to the people - both citizens and visitors...

Captain Kavarra busied herself about the embassy, though new the building would be cleansed and readied twice and thrice over in preparation for the Holy Eve, the halls decked with finery and the grounds mown to military perfection.

The Conclave halls echoed for the absence of the WIT and other local churches whose members readied themselves for the great services and had been absent for weeks in preparation.  But the temples built to meet daily and weekly needs would be overwhelmed on the Holy eve, and where else would folk look for the word of the gods - travelers in particular in which the City teemed?

Where else but the embassies and shrines of the conclave members that yet tended their duties!  The Pontiff would of course be absent tending to the needs of the Impregnable Heart, so who else would lead the festivities of the Conclave?  If not the Captain, then she could surely make certain that the Aegis was not slighted in precedence or failed to provide worthy sermon...
