Lessons at sermon in NIT by unknown priest in unknown temple:
"A young man planted a rose and he watered it and cared for it faithfully.
Before it blossomed, he examined it. He saw a bud that
would soon blossom. But he also saw the thorns, and he
thought, 'How can any beautiful flower come from a plant,
burdened with so many sharp thorns?'
Saddened by this thought, he neglected to water the rose,
and before it was ready to bloom, it died."
"So it is with many people. Within every soul, there is a rose.
All godly qualities seeded in us by Haelyn, growing amidst
the thorns of our faults. Many of us look at ourselves and
see only the thorns, the defects. We despair, thinking
nothing good can possibly come from us. We neglect to
water the good within us, and eventually it dies."
"This is the sin we are here to stop!
We will tend to you, the people of Haelyn, so you may learn to
recognize your godly potential. We can show you the way, but it
is you who must recognize your own potential for good and nourish it.
See it hiding behind its thorns, and through your deeds make it grow
so it in time will fill your soul. Fill it with goodness so when you are
judged, in this life and the next, all can see that you are as godly as
any man can be."
