His fingers were steepled together in thought, documents piled in front of him in various heaps and a map of the Heartlands laid out on top of them all. There were patterns in all those reports, shapes and structures in the movement of goods, of men and of faith - he knew that a true genius would be able to pull all the threads out from the notes he had and weave the story that he was trying so hard to glimpse, but he also knew that he needed to keep trying or it would forever escape him. And now was not time for such to occur; there was too much at stake for too many and especially for him - he believed it always paid him to remember his own life was more important and more valuable than anyone else he had yet to meet.

As he slowly stood the sunlight broke around the edge of the curtain of the chamber. Shrugging a long coat over his shoulders he moved towards the door and it was only after he paused, took a deep breath, set a smile upon his lips and reached for the handle that he felt ready to greet the world and the new day it brought.
