What is up with the veteran pikes from Ilien sitting down or fleeing during battle?

I understand the raw balistae hitting a wrong target, but OMG Veterans fleeing?!?!?

It doesn't bode well for Ilien in general .
I imagine most people dislike being shot in the back by their own troops, and when the troops of a vassal shoots the Liege Lord's personal soldiers, I predict some verbal abuse in the near future.

Let's see, if the inept Ilineese can redeem themselves somewhat soon. Kaven will be keeping an eye on them, that's for sure

Maybe it was because they fought next to a unit of raw swordsmen? 
 Or that they were just generally in a bad mood over having to march to war with press-ganged teenagers with swords.

 It has NEVER happened that Bjørn has made a mistake! (And by never I mean it happens  )

 Actually your veterans propably held their ground as well as the rest of the troops. You can expect that your raw swordsmen and your crossbows ran away under hostile fire. That your veterans wound up exhausted is actually just a definition of a wound level.

 But the general impression was the Ilienese troops ran away. Which is why you should have spent money on a unit of spindoctors. I'm afraid Bjørn is the equivalent of "your spindoctor from hell", he will screw you over in places you didn't know you could FEEL sore...

it could also be hostile influence against Iliens troops, payoffs to make them act like fools... I take nothing for granted right now... *looks around for enemies of Ilien*

But I hope you are right ^_^

Next time Ilien is asked to supply troops one could also hope they get a little more warning so they can muster Green units or even have time to train them to skilled before sending them to battle...
