OOC chatter: Talking with dead ancestors
« on: April 19, 2010, 11:01:12 PM »
I am fairly certain that lies pretty close to engaging with the undead. There will be those who do not condone that.

But... Remembering what you already got yourself into, thats probably not going to stop you.  :)

I seem to recall that the type of spell is modified in BR settings, but I can't remember the details. Most likely reduced efficiency and more blur on the replies given.
Formerly: His Grace, Patriarch Rashid ibn Daouta, Last Imperial Duke of the Eastern Marches, Duke of Elinie, Master of Sutren Hills, Holy Paladin of Avanalae, Light of Reason.

Look, Maire just wants to have some idle talk with mommy and daddy :)  But your ancestors may have some useful advice about that Grey Duke, no?

Actually...

I would venture a guess that speaking to say the spirit of a saint (come down from the heavens) is drastically different from speaking to say, a run-of-the-mill ghost.

'Undead' can be a very narrow category, I think.

Just make sure the flavor of your effort reflects the right attitude.  Asking Nesirie for help in the form of the ancestors' wisdom is good; summoning and binding the spirit of one of your saints to answer questions is bad (Isn't my insight stunning?).  Generally speaking, you can also preface things you want to do with a question to Bjorn of "Is this a terribly risky and/or blasphemous way to do this?  Because if so, I don't want to."

Additionally, one should guage how truly important it is.

If it is important, send Bjorn an email dispatch.

If it isn't, then put the dispatch into your DO.
