: Elinie player stepping down - No time!
: X-Elinie/RiD (Niels) August 30, 2011, 08:04:25 PM
Hi guys!

I have to stop playing ROE for the foreseeable future. I simply do not have the energy or time presently.

This is an awesome game and I am glad to have been part of it.

I hope to someday find the reserves needed to jump back in, but that is probably months or even a year into the future.

I'll lurk on the forums of course and might even chip in with my 2 cents here and there, but I can't commit to running a domain.

See ya'll!

Sigh, I'm cursed, I've gone through 3 Mhors and now I've wiped out 2/3 of Elenie as well.

Seriously though Niels why not take it easy for a bit instead of quitting - a quiet player is better than an NPC player and if things turnaround you can ramp back up, Elinie should be a bit quieter going forward and the 2-month to a season pace isn't actually that taxing if you don't stress over the periodic frenzies or take an active role in driving forward the intrigue - Elinie is off on the periphery and the realm would be expected to look inwards for a few months/years while it heals from its recent turmoil.

Oh Niels that is so sad. I looked forward to deny you the BoL we found now and again

You finally manage to defeat you family nemesis and ward of an Osoerdan invasion...and when peace comes it just gets too dull :)

I think there's a fairly good chance that your domain will be kept open for you. It's been known to happen before, just don't be surprised that Bjørn has set you on some crazy path of world domination in the meantime ;)

The Patriarch will continue along the same vein. Keeping Elinie independent, rebuilding his kingdom. Making goblin (and now also elf) friends. That sort of thing.

I'm fairly sure I'd been given permission to bring the sword of truth to those particular heathens...

Andy is correct. The goblins fled North, deserting their liege. They should have fled South into Elinie for protection.

They chose the wilderness and from that point on, the Patriarch dropped all plans of letting goblins have their own provinces under his protection.

He remains convinced that the other intelligent species has valuable insights that humanity would do well to learn. - And fundamentally believes that all beings should be judged by their word and actions rather than their species. Of course he has also learned not to flaunt that belief in the face of certain temples and nobles.

The Patriarch is both compasionate and wise. Praise to him and his efforts  :)

What about switching to a relatively low intensity domain like Talinie or Dhoesone. You wouldn't need to interact as much as you have to with Elinie?

Basically, I'd be, more or less, the only player bugging you on a regular basis  :)

I would just note that the 'he' above is the Patriarch, Robhan is far from convinced that the other allegedly intelligent species have valuable insights.  Orthodox doctrine is clear that most of these beings are of course divinely disfigured due to sins committed by their ancestors against the gods, the misshapen brutes remain on Cerilia only to provide  humanity with proof of the superiority of man, provide him with servants or to test his worthiness.  Certain more extreme tracts make similar claims regarding peasants of course ...    :-)

As subtle as an anvil in a bowl of soup.

"...he has also learned not to flaunt that belief in the face of certain temples..." - HA being one of the temples who are not flaunted. :-)

"...he has also learned not to flaunt that belief in the face of certain temples..." - HA being one of the temples who are not flaunted. :-)

Actually Rashid did lots of flaunting of that one, HA bided its time and inevitably the goblins betrayed Rashid as a time when he owed the Aegis... sometimes it isn't about picking what battles you fight, it's about picking when you fight them...
