Grace Period
« on: June 22, 2009, 07:06:06 PM »
And the last turn of the grace period is about to begin.  Who here was actually playing when the first RoE kicked into gear?  Was there a grace period in it, as well?

And if so, was the turn following it as hideous as I imagine 65 will be?

When i joined first game it was already part way through and as WD in Coeranys I had to struggle hard to even have a realm.... But I will say that the PvP action was fairly intense with what are only currently "frictions" during grace breaking out quickly into bushfires and then firestorms that threatened to engulf the whole of the continent. And that is not even including the NPC's and Bad guys all of which added to the mix.

I am both excited by and dreading turn 65 and the chaos that will ensure. Be prepared to baton down your hatches and whether the storm should it get driven past or over you :)

The DM's are discussing to remove the grace period as of now. Any thoughts before we decide?

Apart from the fact that I have already written my turn 64 turnsheet and now shall have to largely rewrite it? (And yes that was just in an attempt to make up for being SO late last time due to real life....)

IMOSHO removing grace now should be fine; there may be one or two players who have geared actions assuming grace would be in place this turn but I am guessing they are likely to say so publically in case it exposes their cunning plans but I personally would have no issue with the gloves coming off - after all nasty is the nature of some of our games. Alledgedly  ;)

I think I would prefer for it to stay on... Though I am not sure. Some carnage to shake things up could be fun :)

I think I speak for everyone currently invested in npc wars, when I say that removing the grace period would be somewhat.... testing.

Funnyily I committed to that action forgetting there was a grace period; I would not have chnaged any of my actions so far with or wothout a grace period :)

Me, I'm just battening down my hatches and preparing to ride the whole thing out.  Feel free to run the "grace period" out another year or two, as far as I'm concerned.

Ending the Grace Period now, or in the future, isn't of a huge deal, I think.  Besides, it makes all the current long-term endeavors suddenly far more interesting and dangerous.  I kinda like that idea...

I think it would be best to keep it as originally announced; generally speaking I prefer changes to rules to be announced in advance whenever possible and so especially those landed domains that have geared towards a four season grace period should, in my oppinion, not see all their cunning plans get twarted by this sudden change.

That said IHH can live with it
