Turn #66 - Straits of Aerele

(1/1)

DM B:
The foreign galley fleet makes several forays in force; they do not seek to break the Dieman blockade. Instead they alternately strike against smaller Dieman squadrons - or go commerce raiding; targeting SASI shipping near the coast of Medoere - primarily.

DM B:
WM 4:

The Dieman fleet retaliates, sending 2 enemy galleys to the bottom of the Straits, with no losses of their own.

Mieres seems to either have acquired many foreign slave-rowers or hired privateers in some far southern land; the crew-men are definitely not Anuireans.

DM B:
WM 5:

The Mieran fleet wins a major victory over its Dieman opponents, more or less destroying the entire galley components of the Dieman fleet. Only to learn that galleys are next to useless against the towering fore-and-aft-castles of Anuirean galleons.

So now there is a stalemate; the Mierans can raid freely along the coasts of Diemed and Medoere, but they can't prevent Dieman caravels and galleons from spotting trade vessels headed fro Iien - and dealing with them.

DM B:
WM 8:

The Medoerean fleet (which admittedly does not exist) appear of the coast of Medoere. Comprising excellently handled galleases and galleys, supported by long-ranging caravels for spotting, they put an effective end to Ilienese/Mieran raiding along the coast of Medoere/Diemed.

DM B:
The Mieran galley fleet returns to Ilien and do not venture forth again for the rest of the season.

Turn ends.
