: Important changes to RoE II ruleset
: DM B April 01, 2009, 10:02:48 AM
Hi,

Due to the great amount of discussion/controversy arising from such unimportant issues as bloodline score, bloodline abilities, what the DDC for hiring a scholar is, what one of your henchmen can/cannot do und so weiter, I feel compelled to institute some changes.

All AAs are removed effective immediately. You can still make up names and such for your courtiers, but they will no longer have any in-game effect.

The same goes for regents; keep their names and such, but all stats beyond simple character class and level are removed from play. That should make things much easier.

We'll also drop interactive adventures and such; DM Jon has found a nice table that we'll use instead. He can post you the link. Once again much easier.

You will also be limited in the amount of IC communication you can do each turn. Dispatches are still free, but each dispatch recipient will count against a limit set by your court expenditure. We'll also limit the number of times a single dispatch can go back and forth. We're think three entries by each party is sufficient.

This should GREATLY speed things up and make the DM's life much easier. We feel that the game has derailed from the strategic focus that it should have, and degraded into an IC slugfest (Rune has invented a Norwegian word for it; but its too rude to put into print).

More later, but any questions relating to this matter is to be directed to DM Jon; I simply cannot wast more time on it.

If those changes will speed up the game I think they will be well accepted

So those supportive adventures (giving pluses to DAC) and administrative savings are no more, right?
Are lieutenants (and thus lieutenant actions) removed too?
Do those changes apply in turn 62?

ARGH! All that time spent on explaining the aa's to nearly 30 players down the DRAIN! ARGH!

Well never mind, we'll see what the future brings  :P

Sigh...
Yes.
We keep lieuts.
They apply for #63.

But they have no effect beyond giving a bonus regent action.

But they have no effect beyond giving a bonus regent action.

Do they keep their class? - Can they still do their class bonus actions without paying the base cost?

Yes.

One more question. Since regents have no bloodline score now, does it mean RP collection from holdings is not limited? Or will there be some other limit?

No limit

No limit

This will tend to favor those big domains with low BSes, like Ghieste. So definitely look out for the guilders now; perhaps this change will make people actually want to play them.

*small round of applause* Good changes that should really improve the game.

Says the man with a +43 rp boost  :D

Seriously, though, I don't mind the RP boost to temples and guilds (from a cursory glance the jackpot winners are MOC, HA and Ghieste with gains of + 30-40) but now it seems that specializing is no longer a bonus, but a disadvantage.

Ilien with its realm/guild/source domain is now completely on par with its liege lord Diemed in terms of RP/GB collection.. not sure what to think of this tendency, probably irrelevant on the grand scale.

As for dispatches, it is not reasonable for regents to exchange 40 messengers, so I agree with the new rule, but what about personal meetings? If two regents are physically present, are they still limited to 3 dispatches?

You would use all of you three dispatches on one person? A very important ally could get two, but not all the three you got each season surly?

It is up to 3 dispatches per person, not overall. The number of persons you may contact is limited by the court level.
