Okay, we should all have submitted or be close to submitting our DO's. And hopefully we have all learnt lessons already...

Let's try sharing them and see if we cannot improve our DO's for our poor DM's....

I'd make sure to initiate any communication with NPC's way early in the period. To give the GM's a chance to reply...

Read the rules better. Over the years they've changed so many times I've lost track of what is the current rules. Could make for something interesting if I've completely missed something.

I second that! I've filled out the DO to the best of my current knowledge, but I'm sure it's going to be a good lesson in humility to get it back.

Start Adventures ASAP.

Start Diplomacy ASAP.

Start the DO writing earlier.

Also I wouldn't get banned from my computer at home by my wife so I can only work at my turn on my lunch

I really hope you deserve that... I could not imagine such punishment to be "fair" unless the grievance you've caused is epic in nature.  :D
