: New DO template
: DM B March 11, 2010, 11:56:36 AM
Hi,

I'm nearly done with the new spreadsheet DO - it will be available for download later today. Stay tuned to this thread.

The Excel sheet has a bit of automation to make your life easier (and mine!!!); more features will be added later.

Turn 66 is to be handed in the new format.
: Re: New DO template
: DM B March 11, 2010, 06:24:19 PM
DM response to mails/posts is postponed until the DO template is ready.
: Re: New DO template
: DM B March 12, 2010, 11:10:40 AM
New template added to this thread (top post).

Please use this thread for feedback. More functions will be added later, so focus on finding any glaring errors.

Note that from Turn #67 there will be NO MORE SECRETS UPDATES. Instead everything will be incorporated in the DO. Easier for me, easier for you.

New feature:

- GB cost from Army mustering etc. will now be subject to Admin by the character whose specialty this is, instead of just lumping everything with the chancellor.

- This should make the other Admin posts more attractive.
: Re: New DO template
: DM B March 12, 2010, 11:15:16 AM
- Skill Mastery of Unskilled has now been split into; Untrained and Proficient.

Any chance of uploading it in a zip-file? The hospital is not exactly fond of applications such as unrar etc.

That looks really sweet. It certainly makes stuff easier for someone as bad with numbers as myself. And I love how you've made it so that when I change the turn number, it automatically updates season and year! Awesome!
: Re: New DO template
: X-Medoere & RCS/KE (Thorsten) March 12, 2010, 12:52:46 PM
Oh and all the actions are already listed in the drag-able boxes. Schweet!  :D

I know. No more confusing which Season it is.

I think the army upkeep part is especially time-saving.

I'll expand more on that later to automatically fill out things like base cost etc. And limit AAs to Character actions etc.
: Re: New DO template
: X-SASI/Orthien Tane (Rune) March 12, 2010, 01:32:41 PM
Problem with assets, P&H etc: Can't choose blank as a unit, so not able to remove the Alamier upkeep for army and such.
: Re: New DO template

Easy fix; but I can't access the ftp right now, so attachments won't upload.

: X-Medoere & RCS/KE (Thorsten) March 12, 2010, 01:44:33 PM
What's your intention with the magic-portion of the DO?
: Re: New DO template
: DM B March 12, 2010, 01:49:06 PM
List for spells; allow magic-users to select spells known/prepared from drop-down menus etc.

Allow tracking of ley lines (maybe a map-overlay-type-thingy)
: Re: New DO template
: DM B March 12, 2010, 01:50:09 PM
There will also be a War-sheet.

Here you can drag-and-drop your units into armies/fleet, even arrange them into echelons etc.

But that is for the future.
: Re: New DO template
: X-Medoere & RCS/KE (Thorsten) March 12, 2010, 01:53:05 PM
Ruornil approves all of the above.  ;D

You think it would be possible to throw a map into the mix, or would that make it too grand?

EDIT:
Perhaps just a direct link to the maps?

It's down; cuz my server is screwed. Can't upload right now. Will fix...

- Navy formula corrected

super thanks Brandon.

The sheet looks great although it is trying to swindle a few GB from me.

End of turn status in treasury ignores any imput in extra income & RP to GB.

Perhaps the cell G56 in MAIN should be changed from "=D46-D57" to "=J46-D57" That seems to correct the issue.

That's correct; I guess the reference was there before I added cells for extra income.

: Re: New DO template

I might be blind, but I see no place under assets to list my Ley Lines

Because the current version has no support for it - you just enter it manually into the Magic sheet.

(RP cost to maintain go under Maintain Ley Lines action).

Under the Assets Tab in the Army section, the drop down tabs in column C "Units" don't have entries for Swordsmen or Marines which I have in my current DO as army units.

I also can't manually put this in.  What would be a good fix in the meantime

Swordsmen are Regulars now.

Marines can be listed as Regulars (with a note)

How do I enter Mounted units like Mounted Armsmen?

Not supported yet (in v2.4)

You have to manually add a line to the 'Units' sheet (make sure its alphabetized) incl. unit name and upkeep cost.

Then you can select it from the drop-down menu in Assets.

If you dont mind I will just make a note with the unit(s) in question that they are mounted and then fix it when it gets to be supported in later versions. As it is my head is nearly ready to explode  :-[

: Re: New DO template
: X-Osoerde (Alan) March 15, 2010, 11:17:12 PM
the custom number format for RP & GB should probably be:

0" "\RP & 0" "\GB

It is easier to read when it looks like "0 GB" rather than "0GB" (which it currently looks like)
: Re: New DO template
: X-Elinie/RiD (Niels) March 16, 2010, 09:00:10 AM
AA's say they are tired of being sent adventuring every single month where they don't have actual work planned. They would like to be able to have "non-scheduled" time on their... schedule.

(You are forced to pick an action for each line of AA stuff, even when they sometimes do not have anything to do that particular month.)

I complained about this when discussing the last template, and feel I'll have to do so again. Could we format the section on holdings in the Do to match the P&H, so one can cut and paste rather than try constantly update these parts? Alternatively are there are clever people out there who can make one spreadsheet talk to the other, and have it automatically updated?

I can make them talk...but I'm not yet sure how to make the DO pick up all the relevant entries...that is not so easy.

In the meantime; why bother at all? It's all there in the P&H, so really no need to put it int the DO.
: Re: New DO template
: X-Elinie/RiD (Niels) March 16, 2010, 11:14:57 AM
Just dreaming here... But if there was a "target province" and next to it, "target holding" thing, pr. action, then it could show local prosperity, size of province, and on the "target holding" you would be able to see level and owner of all holdings in that province.

Using those values, combined with the action type, would then fill out the formula on its own.

On your Domain page, in the DO, you'd specify which is your own domain and what other domains you have "holding advantage" deals with.

Of course, then we are almost building a game engine... :-)

Some elements could probably be driven by volunteer work.
: Re: New DO template

These kinds of functions are outside the scope of my current DO template project...
: Re: New DO template
: X-Tornilen/SM (Alexander) March 16, 2010, 05:29:32 PM
Having been messing around with Openoffice a little bit, I think the simple thing to do, even though it does not sound simple, is to transfer the P&H into a database (openoffice's one will do). Then make sure there are the right relationships between the data and then simply pull the data or insert data when you need to change or retrieve things. Making openoffice calc talk to the openoffice database is very easy, so that could work.

That is, of course, the theory. How to do it in practice... it would take time :P
: Re: New DO template
: X-Elinie/RiD (Niels) March 16, 2010, 06:21:05 PM
No, no, no. What you need to do, is to set up the values you are interested in porting over, on a different page in the DO document.

Then you set up this page to link to the value locations in the Other file and have an update button. Mapping the first one will be a little  painful, but this will work. If the format of the P&H is absolutely static in number of lines etc... :-)
: Re: New DO template
: X-Hermedhie (Ronny) March 16, 2010, 07:18:56 PM
I think I would go for the database solution myself ;)

And just now I got a vision in my head where the P&H is in an online MySQL DB, with an online DO order done with PHP :D

Assets worksheet: Regarding total expenses for fortifications, Army and navy. Cell(M87) should be changed from "=SUM(M74:M86)" to "=SUM(N74:N86)" Similar change is needed in cells (M110) and (M133).

: Re: New DO template
: X-MOC/Leman States (Even) April 25, 2010, 04:29:40 PM
Some comments:
- Formatting of 'Effort GB' in column L list them as RP.
- Total of offensive pool is incorrect in cell G30. Currently adding up the effort RP already accounted for in D25. Should read "=O111+O131+O151+O179"
- RP to GB in J28 is not accounted for in the end of turn RP sum. (Think I'll put in as many RP as possible here before it gets fixed  ;))
- Chapel of the Saints missing from Structures drop down list.
- Could a 'Not Complete' status be added for structures, so they don't mess up the upkeep formula?

More later.

: X-Haelyn's Aegis/RK (Andy) April 26, 2010, 10:18:58 PM
It might be handy to have 'special - .25 GB'; 'special - .5 GB'; etc added to the structures table to account for any weird stuff that people may have that doesn't really fit in the standard categories.

The 'cast realm spell' action could be cut to just 'realm spell' - I've been spending actions on memorising I think, although since I've done it every turn if I've nerfed it up (again) it won't matter.

Realm spells - would it be easier just to type them in rather than have a look up table?  Its a long table but most people probably don't have all that many of the possibilities.

I'd find it handy to include the prosperity levels in the list of prosperity modifiers, eg. 1 (Steady).  I can never remember what they are and have to keep going back to the end of the P&H to check.
