: Turn #66 - Elinie continuation campaign
: DM B February 25, 2010, 03:19:53 PM
War move 1:

Nothing is reported, but intelligence indicates a significance force (4+ units) of Osoerdan warriors (presumably under Landen Tshalen) are hiding in the Grey Hills (Sendouras province).

OOC: *groan*

EDIT:
/snip from Rumors:
Mhoried
Archduke Osoer continues what Marquis Bellamie of Morcosoer began; wasting the Mhor's time and insulting the brave and noble men of Mhroied. But that might have been bearable, had not Osoerde's warriors ambushed and murdered Mhoiren warriors that were returning home without ever drawing their blades.
/snip/

Oh, so thats where those men ended up...

In response to news of raiders in his lands, Baron Blaede Khaiarén asks that he be allowed to take his warriors with him and go home (which includes Count Dhon and his men).

He also warns you not to let your guard down - if they are in the Grey Hills, they may well strike against Ansien.

"Yes, Baron. Your service has been stalwart in this campaign, I would be remiss if I denied you leave to defend your own lands.

Do, however, avoid destroying them. I will demand reparations, in full, for Tshalens actions, but would prefer if we are not forced to kill him. - Also, he is a powerful warrior, if we must destroy him, let us do so in force, together.

I will contact the Archduke, and ask if he still has a loyal vassal, or if he is ready to... let him go. Your advice, as always, is taken to heart."

Baron Blaede keeps his units Active and moves them into Sendouras - across the Grey Hills.

Baron Blaede reports that Tshalen has move out of his lands and into Sutren Hills - do you want him to pursue?

WM 4: And Osoerdan army, some 4000 strong - mostly infantry and with Archduke William at its head - enters the province of Chalsedon (again)...the commoners go hide...but quickly pass north along the road to Ansien...and the citizens of the capital are fearful again, until the heathen turn north, towards the Soileite, the Grey Hills - and Morcosoer.

WM 5

Finding nothing he has his men and sends forth scouts into Brushfire...finding nothing but woods and moors and goblins.

If Blaede Tshalen has gone to Brushfire he shall know soon anyway...if not, where could be be? Balteruine? Soileite?

WM 6

The Mhor arives in Sutren Hills and speaks with the Baron. They have word that the Archduke of Osoerde is on his way from Soileite with a large infantry force.

So Blaede Tshalen has not gone there. Nor is there word from Balteriune about an attack.

Where is the man?

Osoer drives his forces north, sending scouts and outriders to ensure the route is clear.

Marshal Caelen Haensen glared at the bleak hills and black woods about his camp, his mood soured by the reports brought to him by the couriers, "have the Black Hawks keep their eyes out for more than the goblins and orogs, Aeric" he growled to his aide, "it seems half of Anuire comes our way and I have no idea how much of it is friendly..."

--In Moriel Grand--
Marlae shakes her head with some amusement and disgust as Tristan walks past the window where she sits reading a missive; he curiously approaches her.

"My Queen, you seem in better humor this fine morning," he says with flourish, guile and charm -- all of which is lost on the Queen.

She exaggeratingly rolls her eyes - it would be hard to tell if they like one another or barely tolerate one another.

"Apparantly, Landon rains death, doom and destruction upon Sutren Hills. I have little doubt that the Patriarch's...pets...suffer dearly from his attentions," she says.

Tristan nods slowly.

"What of our liege, my lady?" he says, gingerly - Marlae is annoyed again.

"He goes to un-fuck what your cousin has clearly fucked," she says.

"I suppose the only question is whether he will leave Morcosoer a virign or whore," she says standing and taking her leave, casually dropping the missive into Tristan's lap.

"Tristan, do make sure that makes its way to our liege," she says.

--North of Ansien--

The Archduke has somewhat slowed his pace northward. Instead, he speaks with the Patriarchm until news of the events in Sutren Hills reaches him, at which point, a spark of fury presses him onward and inviting the Patriarch to join him.

The Patriarch delines the offer of travelling north with the host, that will take too long. The meeting in the camp has to be kept brief, as there is many other matters to attend to.

He gives a fresh letter of passage to the Archduke, to show Baron Blaede, lest it come to... Misunderstandings.

A similar letter is sent to Baron Blaede and the Mhor, by courier, to inform them that Osoerde is sending an army through, and not invading. - They are to abide by the agreements standing with Osoerde, not entering Markazor provinces beyond Sutren Hills without leave.

Also, beating the goblins of Sutren Hills for being goblins are not ok. Keep the column moving and keep harassment, from both goblin and human sides, as low as possible.

Goblins are survivors...they know when to hide. They'll do OK.

WM 7

The Archduke, having held only a stately pace (to speak with Patriarch Daouta) finally arrives in Sutren Hills.

The Mhor has taken his men back to Mhoried.

Baron Blaede is still there with a small command.

Send scout and outriders ahead to scout Periltrees and Brushfire. Osoer wants to know where Tshalen is. Word to the Marquis as well.

WM 8

No sign of Tashalen, but Periltrees is chocked with Haensen color and HA templars.

Word is sent north to the Marquis.

I do not like that this thread still lives.

It is Boding is it. Are we going to have this thread every time the Archduke moves troops through Elinie on the bloody highway?

- Wait, the highway is Not bloody! - It isn't! - That is not allowed!  :)

And, the Patriarch points out to Osoer, the usual and agreed route is from Chalsedon --> Mholien --> North, not via Ansien.
: Re: Turn #66 - Elinie continuation campaign
: DM B March 18, 2010, 02:16:32 PM
It's not supposed to be able to go directly from Chalsedon to Mholien; provinces have to touch in a meaningful manner on the map for movement to be possible.

There are two viable routes:

Chalsedon --> Sendouras --> Mholien --> Sutren Hills

Chalsedon/Osoeriene --> Ansien --> Soileite --> Sutren Hills (well, you could go from Ansien to Mholien of course, but that a more arduous route). If there is going to be built a road I'd strongly suggest the later route.

: X-Elinie/RiD (Niels) March 18, 2010, 04:42:30 PM
Yes, thats the one we were going to do, it just hit me though, that all 4 provinces touch in that little corner. It seemed excessive, that the 2 miles of highway inside Sendouras would cost the same as the full lenght roads in Chalsedon and Sendouras.

But ok. And this is going offtopic. :-)

: X-Osoerde (Alan) March 19, 2010, 12:53:15 AM
Ultimately, it would have been a bad decision to send the highway through other provinces and not Ansien - basically, it would have diminished Ansien and made provinces like Chalesedon much more accessable and viable.

The decision is made and in the treaty, if large numbers of army units are to pass through Elinie, they can damn well walk up in the Grey Hills and make life just a little harder for the smugglers and other bad ilk that travel those ridges.

It definitively on purpose that I laid the route outside of Ansien. If you look on a map, Ansien already has major roads leading in from both Coeranys and Osoerde. Upgrading these might come in the future, but they are not for troop transit.

Seeing as the Archduke has no special orders his men are camped in Shattered Hills and he gets to speak with the Marquis etc.

Turn ends.
