Because we will need one...
Here is the link to the adventure: http://roe.twilightpeaks.net/forum/index.php?topic=433.0 (http://roe.twilightpeaks.net/forum/index.php?topic=433.0)

The DM would like to note that this is a much more difficult (and therefore dangerous) adventure than the Wraiths of Ilien.
Good luck :o
-
Oh joy! ;D
-
Can a Character go on two adventures in same season? ei. do Wraiths of Ilien part 2 and The Vampires of Ansien?
-
Yes, but you would probably have to pay a second regent action... And somehow get an invitation. ;)
-
Can a Character go on two adventures in same season? ei. do Wraiths of Ilien part 2 and The Vampires of Ansien?
Yes, but since they are unrelated you'll need two adventures.
Moreover, sometimes it doesn't work; depends on whether it fits with the DMs conceptual timing of actions.
-
There are no limits on the number of adventure actions you can conduct. However, to participate in three stories, located in each area of the Anuirean mainland, is stretching it. You would most likely have to spend an additional travel action to get there.
-
Speaking specifically; Can I participate in both Wraiths of Ilien part 2 & the Vampires of Ansien if I do just 2 adventuring actions? Or do I have to include a travel action on top of the adventuring action?
-
I see no reason why the Pontiff suddenly should become involved up in Elinie; if allowed at all it would definitely require an additional travel action.
-
Yes I concur there is no apparent reason for the Pontiff to participate in Elinie. From your answer I also get an idea of what distance between to adventuring locations that at least mean taking an additionally traveling action; I guess less distance can also mean that
-
Well in my book it's mainly because you're doing the following this turn:
Start: your court.
Ilien adventure.
Going to the S&C.
That's a lot of ground to cover already, but since you can draw a clear chain from one to the last, it's within the limits of standard actions.
Add Elinie and you can see that line being stretched rather a lot. The travel action solves that.
All of this is obviously not even considering the fact that you don't really know anything's happening up there.
-
There is an email, where Rashid is discussing with Gerad and William. I need that to progress to know if either of those two are available for this adventure.
We need a GM to play Gerad.. Or I can take a sock on my one hand and he will do as I say. ;D
Also, I want Rashid to seek out his sister (the one living in Ansien, who is not a vampire) and ask her to assist. - Should I do this by email or in the adventure thread?
-
Yes I know nothing but the SR and have not been talking to Elinie during S&C. I have no reasons to participate in The Vampires of Ansien in this season so the question arise only in theory.
Regarding Ilien its pretty close to my court and comming to S&C by ship is by far the faster route (and going back through Ilien by ship once finished with S&C).
That said I find it perfectly agreeable that one need to spend a travel action to do two adventure actions unless the two locations are close
-
Could you please make a topic for the theoretical discussion? - This is not relevant for this thread.
-
Could you please make a topic for the theoretical discussion? - This is not relevant for this thread.
While I respect Niels wish to have this thread dedicated entirely for the actual adventure I cannot move my posts allready made.
Will one of the DM's please move my posts in this thread including this one to a new topic OOC?
-
Nah, they're quite relevant for this post. We'll take these matters as they come.
-
Vampires? In Ansien? :o
Wow, practically right next door to me, and I did not have a clue! :-[
...er, I guess technically speaking I still do not have a clue. :-X
But you do - as per Status Report. The content of the Status Report is known by all regents as stated by our DM's earlier.
So you know and depending on your relation with Elinie you may or may not offer your help. I dont know if it is too late but the adventure will as I have understood start when Bjørn returns from Tromsø
-
The DM would like to note that this is a much more difficult (and therefore dangerous) adventure than the Wraiths of Ilien.
Good luck :o
Forgot to ask but by Wraiths of Ilien do you mean the adventure that took place last season or the second part of it to take place this season. If it is the first I say you are in for a treat Niels. Take care and remember bodyguards seems to respawn to be ready again for use the following season; let the bodyguards do the dying ::)
-
This is chronologically after the S&C, so I'm still "hiring". Coeranys has a chance to speak with me anyway, I do believe we have a meeting scheduled and I'm just waiting for the email.
As Rashid sees it, the matter must be resolved with resolute force. There is no such thing as overkill, only "keep firing" and "pass the ammo". :)
And dealing with vampires, well, the overkill part is not easy to get near.
-
A question to the DM's.
Do I have the "Sun Sword" of Elinie? - And if not, do I know where it is and who has it?
-
For the participants in this adventure, please make your arrival posts.
For the Mhor, the meeting we are currently at, in the mail correspondance, you will be asked if you want to join and can jump in here if you accept.
-
To DM's, I think we are only short a few questions to you, and the Points East is yet to check in.
When will we begin? :)
-
Apologies for starting in the adventure and dashing for 18 hours, its midnight over here when the boards have lit up and I have work tomorrow...
Assume that the High Marshal follows the Patriarch's lead (he's the local lord) and fights the good fight generally.
And please, please, tell me that our stuff came with us - not that it makes much difference from one view, but few regents look good in their undies...
-
Don't worry, were just screwed. :D
-
A question to the DM's.
Do I have the "Sun Sword" of Elinie? - And if not, do I know where it is and who has it?
Yes you have it. Your father gave it to you, sot hat you might better stand against the shadows.

:o
Frag that! Espionage => "Liberate" Sun Sword for Kaven's personal use.
-
We will continue to open doors and make our way through the mansion, if rooms are beyond each door.
If there are windows, Rashid will try to see through them, and see if he can get an idea of the layout of the building.
Oh! - and I sooo Just went to bed last night before the action kicked off! Dangit! :)

I was just going to bed, I went through 7 cans of coke today to stay awake, sigh, our redundancies get announced at the end of next week sometime (per office gossip anyway), must start getting sleep again...

Maybe we oughta set up a "prefered time for IC gaming", so we can include both Europe and the US?
-
Maybe we oughta set up a "prefered time for IC gaming", so we can include both Europe and the US?
Meh, missing half of it, coming in and doing something stupid is half the fun :-[
Besides, I thought most of us were europeans/brits so we should be on similar timezones. Besides, the Yanks suffer enough without having to leave it all to us - Rjurik Winds had fewer adventures and tried to pitch them at differing timezones, it didn't really work in practice as the 'frequent posters' either had to be in the zone or it was too quiet.
-
I can't help that Bjørn seems to wake up after midnight in Norway! :)
-
OOC:
Oh god, oh god, we're all gonna die! ;D
7 vampires! :o - Well, potentially.
Rashid is looking for Adaliz, is she in the room with the party?
-
Bjorn, going to breakfast. Will respond a little later if you write anything else. :)
-
OOC:
I am so very happy, that my character is described as clever and learned!
I would be biting my fingers off right now, if I had been playing as Gerad, as that oaf would never IC have figured this out.
Here is Rashid's line of reasoning;
We know that we are dreaming. We specualte that there is a dreamer somewhere, defining our dreamworld.
There are 7 vampires, three men, four women. We are three men, three women, thus the seventh is the "reflection" of the Dreamer or the Dreamer itself.
Further, Rashid is looking for Adaliz, and she were always a little court slut, so the speaking lady vampire is as far as he is concerned, very high on the list of candidates to be Adaliz's or the Lady's reflection. (He suspects they are the same)
All this was clinched by the one male vampire also finding a rose petal... Rashid was merely pushing the boundaries of his control over this dream, and the extra finding is... horrifying, for how do we will our reflections to submit if we do not ourselves submit? - Rhetorical question of course, its the IC thread where we can talk.
-
I think that Adaliz is the mentioned 'lady of the house' and these are 'just' the damned. I'm really hoping that negative plane protection isn't just a spell we had in my homebrew, I had a quick look and couldn't find it. :'(
On the downside, we can't run, on the upside its 7 vamps, we get to die nobly.
I was going to try turning my drink into holy water and seeing how the vamp took it if he drank as well, but didn't get in early enough.
Of course, if hitting our twinned vamp hurts our PCs, then this will be a very short one sided battle.
sigh, poor Geran. Robbie will have to feel guilty about that for a while.
-
The spell you are looking for is called Death Ward, and is a single target buff:
The subject is immune to all death spells, magical death effects, energy drain, and any negative energy effects.
This spell doesn’t remove negative levels that the subject has already gained, nor does it affect the saving throw necessary 24 hours after gaining a negative level.
Death ward does not protect against other sorts of attacks even if those attacks might be lethal.
Its spell level 4 divine.
On my fight: I am holding the Sun Sword at low burn, the plan is to let the sword flare violently when I am charged by the vampire. - There must be some true dayligt in this fine blade.
If it gives an edge is to be seen. :)

Thanks Neils, I never quite caught up with 3e... If they are unarmed and unarmoured then hopefully the level drain is the major threat - so if Robbie is immune, he can take the lead and hopefully slow them down long enough for you guys to let loose with the pain.

We have been isolated, each of us is in another dark room, each of us has our own vampire to kill... solo...
-
I may not have been clear on this;
You are ALONE, but your are still in your own version of the banquet hall.
Each is attacked by a vampire of his/her own gender.
Leaving, as Niels pointed out, one female (who is, she claims, Adaliz)
-
If you haven't noticed you're up to your neck in trouble, but the following helps;
A) Higher level PCs have a better time
B) Some light source helps put you and the vampire on equal footing
C) Some resistance to energy drain and mental influence is also high useful
D) Magic, silvered weapons helps a lot
E) Fire also hurts them
F) True sunlight would also cause them injury
With all of the above in place you might actually win ;D
-
A - Uh, oh. - Well, I'm RoEII "high-level", but vamps are nasty.
B - Check! - And Detect Evil to spot him as invisible, gas, bat, rat or whatever tricks he'll do.
C - Protection from Evil, lasting a whopping 2 minutes cast by myself, can a holy symbol keep the vampire at bay? (well, I'll find out)
D - Check!
E - Check! Sun Sword hot or holy, should be bad for vamps.
F - Check! - Well, I have assumed the Sun Sword has a single burst like power in it, and right now I'm "readied" to flash the vampire when I locate the bugger.

So you do, perhaps, have at least a fighting chance?
The Sun Sword is clearly a magical, most likely holy, weapon that can cast the daylight spell. Definitely useful.
-
A to D no problem, I had E (soft wineskin of oil to match the one of holy water) but from your comments doubt that it came through. F - that's Gray's department I guess... Sadly stopping to try and dream it into being is likely to prove a fatal distraction, well maybe not for the archmage...
Robhan's going to hope that tactics can help him if his foe is a real monster, failing that the silver chasing on his armour can't hurt - it won't stop slashing, but should slow down the grapples...
Remind me again, how the plan for getting looey's is to put them through a half dozen or so of these little romps... Adventuring seems extremely fatal in RoE, even if they don't kill you in one they seem to go for a piecemeal approach...

Well, You are the one suggesting raising the DDC for Hire Help of high levels... ::)
But regarding this adventure, I'm happy if I get my own regent out alive. He may be fearless, but he is not a typical beefcake Paladin. :)

Actually I'm suggesting splitting out 'hire domain help' from 'hire adventure beef-cake' with a secondary move to split out domain spell-casters (woh-hoo boyo's) and adventure level casters...
I'm a little lost on the adventure - do we wait for Jon/Bjorn to say 'you got whomped but are alive/ you kick some' or do we just say it and hope they agree?
-
I... I don't know. We have all posted, as far as I can see, and all are in the dark alone with their vampire.
Well, I'll try picking up my sword...
-
OOC2: This is the way to do it; move the action forward. Of course, since you casually dealt with this round of opposition, I do get a freer rein this time around.
And now the Sword is back in the Hero of Elinie heh heh. Now how much feer rein will bjørn take ::)
-
Well, the vampire regenerates and I didn't write that I finished it off... The battle can ensue as he pleases. :)
-
Sorry, been having PC trouble/been busy (I've notified you, haven't I?)
Will proceed now.

Oh... I just re-read my writing... Yes, the sword could very well be piercing both Rashid, the table and strike the vampire on the other side... But thats nasty... thats just nasty man! :)
-
Heh yes that would be nasty but it seems you got away with it. Perhaps also because you made such a nice poste when requirering the sword.
I for one have really been enjoying your guys adventure from the sideline :)

And death the gate of heaven.[/i]
He looks at the Patriarch, clearly awaiting his response as he comes closer.
Oh, thats harsh... Thats. Ugh. Yes, of course I'll make up prose on the spot. :)

Don't worry, aren't we already marked as satan worshippers for playing D&D? :)

Seeing that Robahn hesitates, he exasperates hoarsely; "By the Light of Avanalae, may your Grace ever return after the darkest Night, that we shall ever know your promise of life and renewal..." Rashid trails off and keels over, fainting from lack of blood.
wimp. ;D
Boy, but it's scary how many prayers are on the net, if we were in the Rjuirik Highlands or Khinasi coast it would be easy for everyone to overload on them.

According to some most definitely, while I was at Uni one of the few shops to stock fantasy books, RPGs and so on got broken into and vandalised twice by god-botherers.
-
How special. Apparently the bit where we frequently fill the roles of holy warriors casting out evil, smiting demons, and caring for the faithful doesn't mean much to them.
-
Heh, thought it would make an interesting change. Apologies if you are religious by the way, no offence meant to anyone with an invisible friend who has a penchant for lobbing lightning bolts...
Heh my invisible friend is great... And lightning bolts are for amateurs. Turning people into pillars of salt though, and the such like? That takes class.
-
Speaking of which.. Seems Bjørn may be turning you guys into
pillars of salt copses if you dont do something
...but in a few minutes that won't matter, because by then you'll all be overwhelmed and killed.
-
Well, I'm over active, so I'm pausing until someone else moves or does something heroic. :)
-
Well, I'm over active, so I'm pausing until someone else moves or does something heroic. :)
No, just continue on; otherwise I'll be forced to move things forward, and that is less fun.
-
The enemy is halted, wavers, and then breaks. You new 'allies' pursue them with a vengeance, but you are too fatigued to give chase.
As you stand there, marveling at life, you see a shadowy figure watching you from the manor's roof. He gives a brief wave with his hand, like an old friend would, and then disappears out of view.
The way to the mausoleum is open for you, but have you the strength to continue?
Now it will be interesting who exercise caution and who dont
-
Apparently Archduke Osoerde conquered the LPA while no one was looking. I, for one, am impressed with his battle skills. ::) Forget to check who was logged in before posting, Gray?

;D I was wondering about that as well. ;)

IC:
Elamien has very little time to think as she sees this ball of energy streak past her, toward the priests at her back. She begins to brace herself, just as she feels a great force strike her from behind, as the fell magic bursts amongst her companions. Stumbling forward, she manages to keep herself from falling completely on her face; and, on one knee, she quickly surveys the scene, bringing her gaze, at last, upon Ariadne. "I have no tricks, old friend. But I will not relent." So does she speak, as she rises to her feet, to close, if she must, with her foe. . . .
Who is Ariadne?? - The first time I thought, hey, a typo. Now again, and she seems to know this person?
Whats going on Brandon? :)
-
He is, consistently, referring to Adaliz as Ariadne. As if they know each other better than most.
-
That's nothing, I think that Robhan's vampire had a sex change while fighting Bjorn...
-
Well there goes blood theft; I look forward to the sequel of wether or not the blodline is now tainted or not. Or if a priest gets carried away over the accident - after all every body knows you have to stab a vampire in the heart lol
In my dark moments I fantasied participating and ohh oops right through the heart - oh my I feel the power. Sadly Wallac uses a morning star which are of little use when stealing blodlines lol
Nice one Brandon ;D
-
That's nothing, I think that Robhan's vampire had a sex change while fighting Bjorn...
Well, after the fight I think that Bjorn is the one that had the sex change! ;D
It was intense to say the least.
-
Annoying. First, PC regent killed.
Bjorn is being nice to the new players.
-
Annoying. First, PC regent killed.
Bjorn is being nice to the new players.
Well, she was getting a little long in the tooth... :)
Atleast it appears she did have an heir?
OH! - And for the cheese, if Medhlorie the Vampire also kept her bloodline, then it would have burst into the lot of us. Can has RP plz? ::)
-
But ofcause; Brandon being closest get those as well ::)
-
But ofcause; Brandon being closest get those as well ::)
Well, I was right there to the side, clearly the second closest...
-
Atleast it appears she did have an heir?
Probably not. The temples are NOTORIOUS for not having regents -- though -- honestly their succession paths are also considerably different than a landed domain.
-
That's nothing, I think that Robhan's vampire had a sex change while fighting Bjorn...
Robhan's? He's in the coffin. Chilling. Bjorn fought Medhloire's slayer.
-
Hm. Ok, note to self, do not interrrogate using Sun Sword. Use dagger next time. :P
And how do we get home?? ;D
And still so many questions!!
-
Of which 'Where is the Main Villain' is the most important ::)
-
Of which 'Where is the Main Villain' is the most important ::)
Actually, as my research has pointed out, finding him is of much less importance than figuring out how to Kill him.
I mean, if my forefather with his merry band, killed an entire bloodline of people, vanquished the vampires and sealed Manethander away, then its a safe bet that they had resources that we currently do not seem able to match. - And even they were unable to End the evil permanently. :)
Right now, meeting Manethander, is not really high on Rashid's to-do list.
-
As much as it pains me to say it, it is not in mine either ;)
-

It is good to hear that the paragon of Reason actually has reasoned enough to uncover the particular piece of fact...especially nice since PCs, when they have first been blooded, tend to rush headlong into the next encounter...
-
Hmm, tbh even Robbie isn't looking forward to meeting Manethander. Although he wouldn't mind a word with Rashid about the level of information provided at some point...
As for heirs, yup, that's a major problem for temples, spells? check, true magic? probably check... that DC goes up fast! Looking forward to any new rules that make it practicable!
My suspicion that hiring low and adventuring up is a non-starter is however growing, Bjorn's adventures seem decidedly lethal from this season's crop.

Some would claim that its rather...hazardous to risk one's regent on an adventure...but then again, you Hero-Kings after all :)

Andy, is your characters name Robhan, Robahn or Rihanna or some other thing? ???
Its one thing in your sig, but its seems to change depending on the person writing it and their mood at the time. ;D

It is Robhan, sometimes I mispell it as Robahn. OOC I sometimes refer to him as Robbie. Sorry, brother #3 is called Robin...
-
I see. Could I presuade you to fix your signature then? - Because its confusing me. ;D

Hmm, I hadn't realised that my sig was wrong! Sorry. Now fixed hopefully...
-
That's more like it Rihanna, Rhiannaa, whatever...
-
Hmm, usually I don't get Robhan too bad, now his surname, that I still cut 'n' paste...
Hmm, his family has 3 church-leaders and two barons, what do/did mum and dad do?
-
Who knows? They are, after all, very minor Alamien nobility. The father is like the viscount of nothing somewhere (i don't even recall where ATM).
-

I'm a yuppie Alamien? Hmm, so plotting is required to get Dad some real rank so he doesn't embarrass us at weddings and the like! Not that we seem to have done well in that area, only Blaede has children, and one of them is deeply confused.

I am slow.

Well then I am slower... The name rings a bell, but who is that?
-
The Iron Rider (recently deceased in Ilien) , no?
-
*click*
Oh no.
Do you know what that "click" sound was?
Sometimes, when presented with enough information, my brain leaps across the known data and then extrapolates what the worst possible outcome could be, if these datasets correlate.
I just had a "click".
The Iron King, undead, traditional, wants to rule Anuire, somewhere to the north. The holder of the Book of Law can decide much, alone on the claim that "it is written".
Thus he would want the Book.
Manethander, the last of the Elin line, undead, traditional, wants nothing more than a stable eternal Elinie to rule over.
I see many reasons the two could decide to work together, and very few why not. And this is bad. Very bad.
-
*click*
Oh no.

Sometimes, when presented with enough information, my brain leaps across the known data and then extrapolates what the worst possible outcome could be, if these datasets correlate.
I did that earlier this afternoon looking at the Turn 61 SR. Specifically, at the Aduria entry, indicating that a civil war began two years ago but has been kept largely quiet and unnoticed by anyone in our end of the world until recently.
Now, who do we know down in Aduria whose plans changed radically two years ago and who would now have a strong interest in taking control of a large landed domain and army? And would have the capacity to foment a civil war, confident that he could win it?
Just so everyone knows, in a couple years or so, we're SCREWED.

On the bright side for you - if you are right you at least get to watch me go down in flames first.
Actually you all have nothing to worry about - nobody beats the Governor >:(

nobody beats the Governor >:(
Except Jack Sparrow!

I've received IC warnings about the threat from the south and that is a major part of my reason to go poking at the Obelisk (which might or might not be a meaningfull response to said warning)

Whatever the result, it is fun to read! I'm glad that such adventures finds their way to the boards. :D

OOC: Everyone is waiting for me to respond, and I have been busy the last few days.
"Your Highness, if you would allow it and so desire, I can remain for a few weeks and we can discuss how our realms, one in the Daylight and yours, in the Twilight, can be of aid to one another both now, and in the future. Of these others, I would like to see them returned to the world of Daylight if you are so inclined."
OOC: I am attempting to engage him in Diplomacy, I suppose.
Nice move - I hope you succeed
