Matt and I have been going over a couple of things, more precisely how to streamline this process and get a thorough job done without taxing anyone too much.
With that in mind, I have been cruelly chopping up Bjørn's work into the individual chapters, removing pictures to a separate folder, and changing it to a single column. It is these text-only chapters, which I am seeking dedicated people to look at.
Quite a few people expressed an interest. But currently we just need four people - one for each of the four chapters. The primary objective at present is to make sure rules work, the various text-passages and tables make sense and that any typo's that may appear are cleaned up:
Chapter 1: Introduction - 8 pages of text: Bobby
Chapter 2: Domains - 35 pages of text: Niels
Chapter 3: Regency - 14 pages of text: Libor
Chapter 4: The Domain turn - 34 pages of text: Alan
*IF* you are interested in helping out, reply to this post with both your preferred wish as well as an email-addy (for invitations to the editing-folder in Dropbox). I'll make sure that some rough editing guidelines are then presented to you (so we have 1 way of doing things, instead of 8 ), and we'll then agree on a temporary deadline for you (obviously it takes longer to go through 34 pages, than 8 ). I am aware that this is a volunteer-only job, and that some may balk at the notion of an imposed deadline, but we still need a structure to abide by - or risk everything flopping aimlessly around like a fish on dry land. ;)
Looking forward to hearing from you - you are all my heroes!

Toss me anything. Got some extra spare time this week cause of Easter and all.
-
Awesome. Perhaps you won't mind taking one of the bigger ones then? I've sent an invite and will put you down for Chapter 2. If you'd rather do something else, nows the time to say so :)
-
I can work on Chapter 4.
-
You most certainly can!
Thanks :)
-
I would try something shorter. Chapter 3, please.

-
Duly noted. That leaves only a "little" 8-page-piece left.
Thanks,
- Thorsten

If any of you need any advice/help in regards to dropbox, please say so. I've recently done a step-by-step article on the very subject (in danish), which is why I confess my love for the software. I never would have learned about it otherwise.
-
This dropbox thing is pretty wiz!
-
Out of love of the game and a love of challenge, I would undertake the arduous task of the introduction. ;)

So very dear of you, Mr. Bellam. The bards shall sing songs of your arduous task for years to come :P

Introductions are VERY important, afterall:
Doctrines must take their beginnings from that of the matters of which they treat.
And therefore, the introduction (beginning) sets the tone for all things that follow it...

But, you know, no pressure or anything. Just The most important text of all time. 8)
-
Fortunately, the most important text of all time is also in good condition already. ;D I made a couple nit-picky changes regarding grammar, but nothing else. Glad to be of service, and let me know if/when you need something else.
-
I'm available as well. Evening shifts at work mean I have 10 hrs of mind numbing boredom ahead of me.
-
Awesome - I'll keep you in mind for the next tidbit that needs editing. I'm afraid they will most likely only increase in size from now on :)
Bobby, nicely done. I gave it a brief glance over my morning coffee, and it looks super so far. Thumbs up mate! ;)
-
I am also available to read through shorter chapters.
-
Although clearly too late this time, let me know if you want a second/third/whatever pair of eyes in future. I'm paving (I think) this weekend, but can get time otherwise.
-
Almost done.
I will finish sometime tomorrow!
-
Done.
This chapter will need to undergo a bit of a revision to include any changes to the P&H and DO templates.

And what chapter is that? Feedback on chapters should go into separate threads.
-
Small update:
- Bobby is done with chapter 1. 8)
- Niels has been going through chapter 2 (first 9 pages so far). Awesome.
- From what I can see, Libor is halfway through chapter 3 with some interesting observations, and going at it with a gusto.
- Alan is done with chapter 4, is that right? I haven't seen anything, so if that is the case, perhaps I can persuade you to either send any changes you think need to be done, or work them into the dropbox-version of chapter 4?
-
Oops. I will do that later tonight. I reuploaded it to the dropbox, but maybe it didn't work?

If that's where that 1367 pages big edition of the Regent Guide came from, then perhaps? :D
There is however a chapter 4 chopped out and prepared just for editing (no pictures, single column, etc.) but we'll work with what you have ;)
-
Minor update/prod:
- Niels, how's it looking? Haven't seen any activity from you on this part since April 11th.
- Libor has 5 pages to go.
- Alan, I'd still like to hear from you. I don't know if the 1367-pages big thing is from you, or if I can safely delete it without removing any suggested changes.
Today is the Thursday, May 20th. Would the people mentioned above be adversed to a deadline for editing called Sunday, June 6th? I'll be going over the suggestions then.
-
I will check the drop box.
I might have something to do with me using *real* office? Or something like that perhaps?
-
Can't see that it should. Alternately you can just send the stuff to me, and I'll upload it.
-
Nods.
-
*Cough cough*
-
Sorry it is my fault. I will send it tonight when I get home.
-
4 days remaining to the (still unopposed) deadline. *Hums the theme from Bob the Builder*
-
Im installing all kinds of stuff to my new computer (Dropbox is not in yet) so it is unlikely I will finish with editing before deadline. More realistic date would be say 2010-06-20.

Duly noted, Libor. I'll assume you hand in the 20th.
I have now received Alan's piece as well, and have (very briefly) looked it over. I have something to work with now, and will be going over some of the stuff in the next couple of days.
Severe changes/suggestions, will be thrown in the respective topics in the editing sub-fora for Bjørn (and everyone else) to comment on. The minor things will be judged by me and Matt on a case to case basis.
I am also sending a dropbox-invite to DM Jon. Seems someone bullied him into asking me for it :P
-
I finished editing Chapter 3. It is ready for further processing.
-
And a day before the deadline too :) You are my hero!
-
Rune has volunteered to do some proffreading. He says my spelling mistakes and grammar is making him insane.
-
Nice - Even probably thinks this is a welcomed respite. Usually Rune blames him for everything.

Maybe experience has shown Rune that Even IS to blame?
-
Hey when can we get your brother to make a (triumphant?) return to RoE?
-
As soon as he manages to transform his shack into a residence...
