ooc: Am I to presume that all units participating in the hill-fight have been destroyed? Or are there any broken/exhausted units lurking somewhere?

Ie. which of the following units are gone?:

Detachment (The Hill):
Ser Cereval Shaeme (Commander): Grievously injured (if he can do anything, like rest but still give orders to troops and make decisions, then he might actually be able to help here.)
Balistae Raw Ilien E
Artillerists Skilled Endier  E
Swordsmen Veteran Roesone B
Pikes skilled Avanil merc B
Pikes Veteran Ilien B
Lion Crossbows 3rd Ghieste Merc B
Lion Crossbows 5th Ghieste Merc B

The Coere detachment has in no way been affected; they are in Coere, completely unhurt.

Conceivably some units MIGHT have routed to Brosengae. Or been taken prisoner.

ooc: Uh... why are the Coere detachment still in Coere? They where supposed to double back when they learned of the enemies departure in move 7...
: OOC: Boer vs. Avan #63
: DM B June 12, 2009, 05:51:39 PM
Jon pointed out that you've ordered the Coere units to move back to Barisen; they arrive...now...a tad bit late, but I'm sure that was the enemy's intention.

OOC: Battle took place in Move 8; you were informed in Move 9. Your Coere units return to Barisen on Move 9. The enemy has almost certainly gone back to Marilen.

OOC2: In case anyone wonder; the Boer units left Coere on move 5, arriving in Marilen on Move 7. Then they moved on Barisen on move 8. Then they moved back to Marilen on move 9.

Completely ooc: What a mess... I guess force-march didn't help  :D

Bjørn, to avoid such ooc-miscommunications (I can understand how you could oversee such a small remark in this gigantic mess), can you please state if there's any specific way you'd like for me or others to give orders in situations like these? I'd prefer doing such things IC, but have reverted to OOC simply because it saves time, and as I understand it, the turn is due soon.

In general, once I have more time, I'll write a list of things I think should be clarified for potential rookie RoE II-warmongers... like: when sitting in Brosien and sending dispatches with orders to other units, should you expect a delay? If yes, how big? Because such things should be taken into consideration when planning... stuff like that.

It's just that if I loose, I'd like it to be the result of IC-actions, not ooc-mistakes.  :)

What you're doing so far is fine. Just remember to update your troop list whenever you want a change to happen. It doesn't have to be all the troops, just the ones you're changing orders for. So there is no room for error.

And perhaps you should consider what troops you're dealing with? In the case of the Barisen relief force, you're marching a mis-match of fresh infantry, mounted infantry and broken infantry. Maybe leave the broken units and send the mounted infantry ahead?

Sigh...I missed one little thing and it got all messy  :(

I really like it when you described it IC; it makes me lenient. But perhaps a more clear list of OOC orders to avoid confusion? This is the first time we're doing a major war...we'll learn.

Now, I'm moving these OOC comment into another thread...

How about I do the IC thing, but write it in a compressed and concrete form ooc at the end? That way we get the best of both worlds :P

Brilliant.

Check up the new update.

Ooc: That was a copy-paste mistake, yes they should be at the hill. Corrected in above post.

Ooc2: Contravallation/Circumvallation done in Move 11 or 12?

: OOC: Boer vs. Avan #63
: DM B June 12, 2009, 08:19:46 PM
OOC: I takes 4 moves to do; so if you started on 7, it will be ready by the end of 10 (i.e. ready for 11).

OOC2: If you have enough manpower you can do both Contravallation/Circumvallation; otherwise I'd stick with just one. But I suppose you actually have quite a few units.

I'll do like this:
--> Mounted Armsmen (RCS Templars) Crack Medoere OK (From ???)

If I move anything from one detachment to another... to avoid units suddenly popping up without anyone knowing how and where.. like the Templars suddenly teleporting from Barisen to Isilien :P

The Idea was to have a defensive position ready, if the Isilien army was lured to follow. That's the contravallation (I think it's the one you'd built first in any prolonged siege, right?) But yeah, since I have so much manpower, I think I'd like both. :P

I need to know, is it possible to get others to conduct espionage actions during a war? Ie. Ser Brosuine and crack armsmen using secret passageways to pop up in enemy castle... I have no Espionage action for that (and had no idea when I wrote my DO). Could Ser Brosuine do the actual action (ie. spend an action on it?)

That would be an adventure action for the Ser; characters can only do character actions.

Very nice

Ok... But is it possible then, by investing him in an adventure action?
: OOC: Boer vs. Avan #63
: DM B June 12, 2009, 09:32:56 PM
He's already taking an adventure action - to participate in the war.

So yeah, he can do it, though there is of course no guarantee of success.

The siege continues, but other than that nothing much happens for the rest of the season; the armies stay in place, and the Dieman galley fleet remains in Ashien with their prize.

Turn ended.

ooc: no move 12? And I still haven't recieved an answer to the questions which may or may not have resulted in an assault on the keep.

Now I'm looking at a winter-siege with the possibility of raids to destroy our supply-line.
