: Sponsoered player applications
: DM B September 24, 2008, 06:33:57 AM
Hi,

Players who can get a recommendation and/or mentoring from a returning player can now apply for domains.

Send you application by PC to DM Bjørn and DM Jon.
: Re: Sponsoered player applications
: X-Mhoired (Dan) September 25, 2008, 05:35:02 AM
Hello,
Would any of the veterans be willing to sponsor/mentor me? While I'm very familiar with the standard setting of Birthright, I could probable benefit from a returning player's familiarity with the variants. I'm sure my most common question to the DMs and others is going to be, "What's the most appropriate action for what I want to accomplish?"
Thanks!

: X-Osoerde (Alan) September 25, 2008, 03:22:41 PM
I probably can.

The biggest thing for new players is understand the action system and not being distracted by all the shiny object Bjorn will place in front of you.

We've had some more old players return, and Robert has graciously vouched for the new SRT and IHH players. Since they have most of their holdings in his realm - I hope they cause him no end of grief :)

I also vouched for the Swordmage, who will undoubtedly provide nothing but assistance and friendly aid!  8)

We now have players for the ETN and Mhoried as well.

Seeing how realms are going as crazy and how it will be much easier to play this game if I had someone teach me the basic difference from the standard BRCS games, I need a sponsor. Is any of the veterans willing to teach me the ropes and sponsor me for a role? I'm looking to play a mage in this game, first time for me, and would like to go for either Illien or Hermedhie, the only mages still free.

Since your ETN was snatched, maybe you should go for Aerenwe, Gray :)

Or you can inherit my HA :D

Welcome back!

Well, with the other old temple players moving on to new domains, I actually think it is for the better that you switch too. Robert also wanted to stick with the HA intially, but changed his mind - would not be the same without Jon, Alan and you running the other temples, and no Sheldon for the KoH.

A quick scan of the two threads and memberlist shows the following list of assigned domains:

Bellam/BC - Bobby
Coeranys - Gray
Diemed - Sheldon
Ghieste/HOT - Matt
Medoere/RCS - Thorsten
Mhoried - Dan
Osoerde - Alan
Roesone - Robert
Tornilen/Sword Mage - John

ETN - Dimitris
IHH - Murphy

Maesil Shippers - Kalle
SRT - Tallak

Regien - Wiktor
Three Brother Mages - Jared

Adrian: GO for Ilien instead of Hermedhie. That way you get to interact a LOT more with the rest of the players. If you, on the other han, don't want to interact much, then He could be good choice.

AFAIK sponsors are no longer needed for the application. In case of HA I could give you pointers as to what happened (since it was my domain), who's friend and who's foe and the like if you choose to go for that domain. I could help out with some rules stuff in case you get confused (then again, we all get confused ;D).

Howdy folks.

I'd like to apply for new player sponsorship.

Have been playing Birthright off-again/on-again since the game was first released.  No other setting inspires me to play D&D more.

I would be new to play by mail games, but have tons of experience with roleplaying, strategy games and internet communities.

I'd like to apply for Mieres.

Welcome aboard Wickernipple  (the images...  :o)

I'm afraid Mieres has already been applied for, but you'll certainly be added to the list of hopefulls if DM Bjørn decides to allow that realm as a player nation.
Please write me and DM Bjørn a list of the realms you would like to play, in order of preference.

Cheers!

Hi.  I'd like to play a role in this new campaign.

I haven't played BR in about a decade or so....and since I'm joining so late, I see not much is left.

I'd be content as that vassal to Mieres, or perhaps taking a 1 or 2 province vassalship off the hands of another player (like, whos rp income exceeds their bloodline, so they would benefit from a vassal) or NPC.

Wow, this game is deep.  I just read the provinces spreadsheet.  I love the Manor addition.  Too bad all the slots look to be filled mostly.

Colour me very interested as well. I've played in two online Birthright campaigns before, and this one looks to be an especially involving and strategic one!

I'll be happy to play any realm, even a "DM's helper" goblin realm (that could be fun).

Let me know if any such openings appear once the game gets underway. I'll be happy to talk with the DMs beforehand, of course, as well.

Hello!  I see there are 3 'new' spaces and if there is room for me I'd welcome the challenge!  I would be happy to play any of of them but if I could choose would go for Endier then Tuorned then EOM.  If I miss out - I've just arrived and I'm guessing others might have been lurking for a while - I'll keep looking in case other places become available.

So there is no domain with my name on it for now but I'm ready..... I get the feeling all will not be sweetness and light across the realm.  So I will wait in line, noncholantly elbowing my way towards the front to have a better chance of getting hitched to someone with a tenuous claim to power.....

I think we're about as close to full as we can get. But send Bjørn a message (mail or via the forum mailing system) and he'll let you know if there are any openings left.

Oh and we won't open up non-human realms for players - not even those with a desire to serve. They'll all be kept under reigns by DM Bjørn (who is a bit of a cross between an orog and a goblin himself  ;D)

Hey folks

I just joined the game and I am definitely looking for a mentor/sponsor to help me through the rules of the game.

If someone was willing to take a look at my domain and answer questions as we go through the game, that would be great. Preferably someone not heavily involved with the heartlands, as that is where all the action is going to be and I don't want to ruin anyone's suspense.

: Re: Sponsoered player applications
: X-IHH/Wallac Isilviere (Kasper) November 30, 2008, 10:20:56 PM
While still digesting the rules for RoE II I think I might benefit greatly from a veteran sponsor to help me learning the ropes.

Preferably I would like to play as a minor vassal though I am not afraid to engage game in one of the more dominant positions if that’s what I get.

I am an experienced player of both RPG & War-games. I have little experience with BR though having only experienced it from the sideline.

I am currently involved in playing Twilight Imperium 3rd ed. as play by forum and have been doing so for 4+ years without a single lapse or dropout on my part. TI3 as PBF is mostly a strategic/diplomatic game and most of it is action is made OOC.

I can be depended on to stick around when the going gets tough and I do not engage in flame wars.

I have been playing RPG & War-game for 18+ years.

All are welcome to ask me any questions concerning the game. While Bjørn is busy getting all things ready, I'll be ready to answer anything.

 Also; to all players.

The PETG, Osoerde, KoH, Tuornen & Tornilen are in full swing. Dispatches flying back and forth to all corners of Anuire, ideas broached with the DM's and turn 60.5 regent actions decided upon (well almost all of them anyway :)

The MS, Regien, LPA, HA, Mhoried, TBM & Coeranys are also showing activity.

That leaves the rest of you, falling behind! HUP HUP HUP! GET PLOTTING! Turn 60.5 won't last forever!

Alamie: That's the spirit  ;D

EOM: True enough. The song and dance was more for the lazy veterans. They know who they are  ::)

Anyway, a good place to learn about your domain while you wait for the PS, would be to get acquainted with your deity Eloele. You can read more about her and many more topics on http://www.birthright.net/brwiki/index.php/Main_Page

It's not RoE however, so whatever is written in there will always be superceded by anything you learn in RoE - but alot of the gods are basically the same, so it's a good idea to read up on them in there.

Everything's full at the moment, but write us an email with your application and keep an eye out for the forum. It's quite possible that someone'll drop off along the way.

Hi,

I will hardly be known around because I never really had the chance to stick to a game that lasted more than three turns when I didn't myself had to quit due to RL circumstances but I'd like to apply for a realm. I did play in ROE for one turn as Assan, in Elinie (I was the player responsible for the massive gnoll and goblin slauthering and the preliminary mission of rashid into the far east). Most of my birthright experience if not all is around the realm of Elinie, except for one take as Baruk-Azhik when I started around 15 years old with Morgramen's PBEM (I have a blank on the name tho) but eventually switched to Point's East Trading even then. I am not a notable player yet, but I do enjoy improving, as like I said, my experience in political games is somewhat limited to the 3 rounds type unfolding of events. I enjoy smaller realm works, and places where there's is lot of room for imagination. I am pretty much open to anything. Feel free to ask ze questions or throw a hairy hobbit foot.

Welcome aboard both of you.
The turn is still in the resolution phase and the DM's doing their best to get on top of the Christmas mail avalanche  ;D

Go to the downloads section and get yourself a copy of the regent guide, Provinces & Holdings (P&H) and other materials. Then read around on the forum - especially the DM announcement - to see how we do it. We'll contact you as soon as the turn resolution is over and we can see who've left us.
