: X-Mhoried/Droene Kavarra (Iasonas) December 20, 2009, 07:43:06 PM
I will send mine on the 21st if that is ok. There is a storm in New Haven that cuts off power regularly  :-\

Still unpacking and moving in, etc...  I hope to get my draft out later tonight, but if not, will have it by tomorrow night.

Thanks,
Greg

I've got mine in but GOD is it butchered.  I can't imagine a more rough draft than that - but at least I've got the basics of the actions in.

I is fail. Not sent. Going to do a truly bare bones draft and send it in. Hopefully it will be worth something for Bjørn.

I handed my draft in the 13th I think. But I doubt it is more finished than any of your drafts.

I send my finished DO yesterday  :)

EDIT: I had the impression that the finale deadline for the finished DO was to be January 10 - please correct me if I am wrong

I'll start looking at the DOs in more detail now and wrap up interactive actions.

Elinie/Osoerde: You allotted time for diplomacy is nearing the end.

So we should finish our DOs now then?

Hmm, I'd hope for a few responses to npc emails - but then Robhan is away from home so that's fine, the letters are probably in the post  :D

I was also thinking there could be a few notes in the mail before we go.

I don't think it's the 10th - at least if it is, I'm going to be quite late  ;)

Understood.  We'll finish as best we can.

It was supposed to be the 10th, but my daughter was ill from Dec 11 to Dec 28, so I never got to do the stuff I had planned.

Do we have an estimate for when the completed DO should be sent in?

Because I need to know if I should stop playing Star Trek online and start writing flowerly action descriptions.

Take your time, B. When you are ready, we will be able to pull Marco from his photons, dilithium crystals, and vulcans....

What are you saying? That we can't pull you out of vulcans anymore?   :D

Ahh... Well I am also caught in the trekkie-web now. The game has a easy understandable gaming surface, and can best be described as a mix between Eve Online (light) and Pirates of the Burning Sea. The later of those two is definitely the major influence: you have a ship, but also operate in away/boarding teams and the steering is very much PotBS-style.

One of the really nice features is the ability to create your own species more or less completely from scratch (has to be humanoid though, but that is an old trekkie-thing as well).
Also, over time you get several npc-officers under your control, and can even requisition new ones. I did that at a point - I simply had no use for a Ferengi on my ship (yeah I'm a racist, sue me :P)
As you progress in "rank", they follow you, and you have complete say as to what skills and equipment they have. You can also change their looks and such if you don't want a bald chick, or would like less facial tentacles.

It'll most likely end up as a niche-game. From what I've tried so far, it doesn't have the same staying power to me, as WoW initially did. With that said, if it takes proper hold, there's enough trekkies in the world to keep it going for quite some time.

By the way, Tristan, if you want to contact me ingame, my handle is Khirildith (if you search on that, instead of character name, you'll find me, no matter what character I play.)

I'm quite enjoying the Beta.

What I am not enjoying is that the fact that I can't get online to play :( Evidently they did not anticipate the conversion rate of beta keys to beta players, and they also underestimated the number of concurrent players.

All of which means that my key playtime before I go to work when my son and my wife are still asleep (which just happens to match up with the US afternoon see me unable to login.

I've been a little silly. My entire crew are Trill. I've had something for them since watching DS9 as a older teenager.

My handle is kyuden. I'll add you to my friends list when I get a chance.

Seems that not only am I racist, I am also sexist.

I had a female human tactical officer, but went and got myself a male version too. My XO needs to be a man, not a woman... (incidentally I fired a Vulcan male tactical officer to get the human male one. I don't need logic in my battles, I need instinct and quick wits and will shot the first one to question the wisdom of my orders, even if I am shouting "Ramming speed!" at the top of my lunges).

And yes, I find myself kicked from time to time as well, and have to wait quite a bit because the "server is busy".
Are you aware if we get to keep our beta-characters? I think not, but it would be nice. Especially since I have some very nifty gear by now.

We lose the Beta characters :(

However if you a pre-order then you get the 3 day head start on everyone else.

I have 3 days of annual leave already booked in and the wife is going away for a small holiday to see her parents so I'll be playing 16 hrs a day for 3 days :)
