Wedding plans
« on: May 11, 2009, 03:39:11 PM »
Hey

I want to plan the perfect wedding. But my insight into feudal weddings is extremely limited, and somehow the rushed wedding of Arvour and the Sword Mage does not seem like the standard.

I'll list the series of actions I imagine should be gone through, and your comments on missing actions or actions that are superflous is most welcome.

Proposal - Including lots of wooing. Even sincerely.  ::) (Cynic Matt!)
Checking Vassals, Allies and the Public's reaction, quietly. (Espionage)
Prenuptial Treaty - Diplomacy
Announce the betrothal - Free
Invite guests - Free
Bestow Title on bride - Investiture
Celebrate Wedding - Court Action/Grant

Anything I'm forgetting? - Actions that are not what I think?

Edited as pr. your exellent points.

Yes that is a question i also have. I would add:

- Espionage: This goes even before Proposal, for obvious reasons. A little information gathering about the bride for some is very important.

- Grant, Offer Tribute -  Free. This could go after diplomacy, where the gifts that are going to be exchanged between the two families have been agreed upon.

The wedding itself is a ceremony, equivalent of a grant action.

Given some weddings, declare war might be more appropriate than ceremony, or possibly that's just when Jon rolls a critical fumble...

I'd expect that bestowing the title on the bride is done as part of the marriage ceremony, but you might get early investitures to reflect the dowry.

Straight to the Proposal? That will never do.

Court the lady at least, even if the wedding is arranged - surely it is better to have a lady who feels you might bear some affection than none? Or a gentleman if your regent is female.

I can assure you any lady that should get married to Ghorien would have had a proper wooing ;)
