: DM B September 06, 2010, 09:09:07 AM
Greetings potential players!

We are now actively looking for players, so if you want to play, do not hesitate to send in your applications.

This you must do:

1. Reply to this thread, stating your name, intent to play and what domain(s) you'd like to control
2. You may also send the DM a more extensive application by PM or e-mail if you so desire.

It will increase your chances if you can get hold of an existing player to mentor you and/or vouch for you.

Greeting and salutations, my name is Bo and for those who don't remember or saw I posted a thread with the creative name "New Guy" in OOC a few months back. *Posted realm preference before I saw which were available, doing research and getting back to that*

*ok having done a bit of research, and pending further developments*

1) OIT
2) Endier
3) Medoere
4) SASI (if they become available with Rune at WIT)

: DM B September 06, 2010, 09:45:10 AM
No rush Bo - as I said, there may be more openings once we start handing out domains to existing players and/or people fail to check in.

OK, I'll start reading Birthright Wiki entries and forming nefarious plans then.

Count me in for playing the CJS Bjorn, it'll be nice to play my absentee overlord and be in a position where I can be more vocal.

Absolutely available if you will have me.
Happy to play any realm that needs a ruler but from the quick glance at available domains listed i only saw

Medoere & RCS (Barony/Temple, N, Slight/Moderate*, Easy): The barony of Medoere is closely integrated with the RCS temple, and as regent you rule both. Medoere is relatively well protected, but suffers from a lack of freedom that hampers its growth; both when it comes to temporal and spiritual power. Kaven Enlien is Baron of Medoere and High Priest of the RCS. Medoere is a vassal of Diemed. RCS is a vassal of the OIT. *Includes the RCS. Available.

If selected i guess i will have to practice my best subservient whine "Yes my Lord"  and/or "Yes your Grace"

My experience in the setting is restricted to an attempt to run the game which was quickly derailed by my players dislike for anything but hack/slash.

pays to look at the last entry in a block

Avanil (Thorsten may claim this domain if he wants)
CJS (Tristan may claim this domain if he wants)
OIT
WIT (Rune may claim this domain if he wants)

as stated any domain would be fine, like all roleplayers i can enjoy playing a weak and sickly domain just as much as playing an uber realm.

I noticed that it was not quite up-to-date, but I was mainly using a wiki to get an overview of what the factions were, for example I didn't have the slightest notion who/what  "CJS" were, and my ideas of what the WIT doctrine was, was more than a little foggy. Now with the help of the wiki I do have the slightest notion of who CJS are and my ideas of what WIT doctrine is, is only a little foggy. So you know, progress.

Good point, another place to look is in the downloads section of this site, Bjorn has lovingly prepared write-ups for all the main factions, you only get the public version but there's a lot of the history dotted around here and there.

Good luck!

Thanks, but I did that some time ago, along with the old turns and such, you know during the time where I really should have been working on my masters thesis. Why is procrastinating always so much more fun that whatever you're supposed to be doing?

Can I ask why and how strongly "not recommended" those are? Particularly Endier. I understand that Medoere is more or less in charge of the Siege of Illien which might be a tough start.

Greetings.

I was a bit too late in joining RoE2 at the start and in the end didn't get a domain, but it looks like there might be a second chance. I've played in two short (less than a year) online BR games before this, so I have some idea about what to do with the domains. Getting to be more able to leverage diplomacy would be my goal, and it's the marriage of role playing and strategy that I love about BR.

I think I'd be up to the challenge of Endier (first choice) or Medoere. Playing WIT or OIT could be interesting and challenging as well.

EOM: NPC domain (it falls under the sway of the CJS as a vassal temple).
: Re: Applications #68

EOM: NPC domain (it falls under the sway of the CJS as a vassal temple).
The vassalage amount is a token though, and more in the nature of an acknowledgement of a formal political relationship.

It may make a good PC domain for a new player as they will be able to work closely with and question the CJS player (i.e. me).
: Re: Applications #68
: DM B September 10, 2010, 09:42:04 AM
EOM = NPC domain.

The problem is that the EOM doesn't really have anyone to interact with. That's not the case with Mieres/SAS.

Quote from Bjørn "Availeble Domains" thread:

The following domains are currently (turn 68) available:

Avanil (Thorsten may claim this domain if he wants)
CJS (Tristan may claim this domain if he wants)
OIT
WIT (Rune may claim this domain if he wants)

There are also a number of lesser domains, builds and mages that are vacant, but experience has shown that these domains rarely attract dedicated players. So if you're interested in taking on another domain than those listed, be prepared to do a bit of convincing.

Other domains MAY become available at a later time if some of the current players do not reply to the roll call."

Would be fun with Rune as WIT. Then I can brown-nose Bjørn less as IC Wallac Isilviere pretty much try to stay on the good side of WIT   ;D

Can I ask if there could please be a public version of the domain description to read as there is with the other player domains?

OK Ben, seeing as EOM is set as NPC, WIT + OIT taken, that leaves you with Endier.

Endier is a compact 1-province realm with extensive guild assets (through it's vassal guild, the HO - having it as a vassal frees up your time for other things that just trade wars). You also got a heft purse of gold each turn from the Conclave of Temples to maintain the Knights of Haelyn, the militant arm of the Conclave. Then there is the fact that Endier is a vassal of Diemed, so you have feudal obligations. AND you have dealings - and growing manorial holdings - in Alamie, Turornen AND Avanil!!!

So for a play that's interested in politics and interaction this could well be THE best small domain out there (I'm sure Thorsten could have done wonders with it for example). But if you're NOT too keen on interaction, then it might not be so good.

Still interested?

I've been a guest for an awful long time and just been looking for a chance (for at least 10 turns) to get into this game. I'd love to see a list of what's available when it comes available so I can try and get in.  :)

Well, it might be another round of waiting then.

What happened to Medoere, though? Perhaps it has a DM-led plot going on....but I was really looking forward to that domain.

Heck, I cold even enjoy a civil war torn Rorhmarch!

With regards to Medoere; I need to resolve turn 68 before I know if I'll allow Medoere as a PC domains.

In general; you are on the very top of a very short list of eligible players. Have faith (the the One True God).

Actually since then Diemed (Carvaloen) has had a very good working relationship with both Kaven and the Patriarch of the Celestial Spell... Carvaloen asks them to jump, they go build an airplane, Diem smiles and whenever there is a chance to give away goodies, Medoere gets dibs. :D

Hello,

I'm Cort, and I've heard a lot about this game for many months from my friend Bobby, who's currently the Bellam player.  I've just finished my MBA, and have realized that I have some free time once again.  Having heard so many good things about the game, I thought I'd see if there might be a chance I could join in sometime.

And while I'm new to PbeM and PbP, I have been playing in a BR game IRL for years now, so I'm comfortable with Birthright and role playing in general.  edit: I've also been reminded to mention that I've played a wizard in the IRL Birthright game (and in most D&D games I've played in the last 15 years), and while I'd be happy playing one again, I'd love to make a change and try running a temple.

Thanks!
Cort

I've been bugging Cort to get in on this for a fair while.  He kept insisting he had to finish his distance-learning degree before he'd have time.  Bah.  That's what lunchbreaks and your former sleep periods are for.  But even if he obviously has poor priorities and time-management skills, he's a solid player - I'll vouch for and mentor him as needed.

Meanwhile, to everyone else: he makes my life very frustrating in our tabletop BR game.  I'm expecting you guys to inflict appropriate levels of pain and frustration on him in turn in this one.

OIT - major temple

Why would you address missives for the eyes of the OIT to a shadow spawn?  That seems like a rather circuitous, seeing as I'd only get the message after destroying the foul beast.  Or are you implying that the Orthodox Imperial Temple of Haelyn is run by a shadow spawn?  I assure you, the leadership of the OIT can stand up to any scrutiny.  How would your own court fair?  I am certain I can spare some inquisitors for a visit, if you wish.  Just let me know, it is my goal to bring the glory and light of Haelyn to all! :)
